E39 Mk3 Question

Hey guys I'm new to the board and I recently purchased a 2002 540 and it has the MK3 navigation system. I have an issue with it.

Any disc I put into the navigation it spits it right out. I put in the BMW oem nav disc and it spits it out after a fewseconds of spinning. I put in a v.32 update mode 2/form 1 and it spins it and spits it out.

The wierd thing is is that
1. Navigation screen is on. Shows the alttitude etc. But when I press navigation it asks for a disk but when I put it in it spits it out.

2. The mk3 units power light is on. When I put in the disc it flashes a few times and spits the disc out.

I promise guys that Ive searched for the last two days before I decided to post. But I couldn't find my situation

any help would be great but I just can't afford to upgrade to a mk4. So if I want my navi to work I need to do something with this on. Thanks in advance
