AUX IN not working in nav retro Z4???

OK,
This is the last problem I'm hhaving in my 2007 Z4 OEM nav retro install. I have the aux in panel that was working great with my original radio system in the car. But it doesn't work now that I've done the nav retro.

Yes the aux in cable is still connected to the main radio connector.

Any ideas?

Aux in stays unchanged with or without nav.

Aux in wires from your AUX-IN socket to pins 3 & 4 & 10 of the X13598 connector on the back of the radio. Check cabling integrity and that you have not broken pins or dislodged pins when you connected the nav voice.


wire colours:
Black = left audio
Yellow = right audio
Shield = ground

Thanks for another reply, its appreciated. I'll go and recheck those connectors.

I have a question for you, I'm pretty sure that the Nav radio I am using is from before 2006 (I'll check). I am wondering if the radio needs to be from a certain date and newer in order for it to be compatible with AUX-IN ???

That might also explain why my DSP feature on the NAV software does not work too. I.E., the radio needs to be of a certain age for DSP to work. My aux-in doesn't even show up as an option on the nav monitor so either the pins were not put in correctly or it is a radio problem iteself.

What is your radio's part number?

The part number on my radio is: 65 12 9 132 254

It was mfg in the Czech Republic in 11-06.

It is a navigation system professional. The radio function works great. I'm running v32 of the nav firmware. The things that don't work are the DSP function in the nav software, no nav voice commands and the aux-in does not work either.

Normally DSP is recognised automatically simply by having the DSP present on the databus.
This can be tested and verified with NavCoder - send the Device Status Ready command from DSP to LOC and the DSP option suddenly appears in the menu

Aux-In is available only from a certain firmware version of the radio, thus if you do not have Aux-In on your radio, it is likely the radio is too old. But check the Service Menu if any options exist to disable it :-)

Yes, I am also thinking that my 2006 nav radio is too old and does not support aux-in. I need to locate a newer radio if i want aux-in.

DSP
The DSP menu already appears on my nav screen but I can not turn it "on". I'm assuming I have the DSP processor/amp in my car. I have a 2007 Z4 M that has a large amp sitting on the wall in the cargo area. The car has the premium sound package so I'm assuming that large amp is also the DSP processor.

I think I am going to get navcoder to see what i can do with it. I need to fix the language set anyway as right now it is set to Europe and I'm in the USA.

If DSP appears in the menu, the DSP amp is alive and talking.

If you cannot control it, it is because of a coding issue.
This normally means the vehicle has not been properly coded for Nav + DSP.

NavCoder can change the nav settings to your desire, but cannot change the settings in the IKE and in the DSP that affect DSP operation.

Thanks for all the replies. I think with your input I have the DSP and AUX-IN problems solved. I'll check my main radio coneector tomorrow and check on the the two voice wires that I connected and make sure they are in the correct location. Hopefully that will correct my lack of hearing nav voice commands.
