On INPA a special NAV save protect mode can be set to block the unit from updating the memory. It's a software flag. This could be active. |

I would suggest a simple test. Change the color from settings (blue for example), turn ignition off, wait until red led on navi turns off, turn the key to position 1 and if the color is changed to default (some kind of brown), the flash memory is corrupted for sure and there is no way to reflash it.
I have 4 units with problem like this. |

Your 4 units can be fixed, simply replace faulty flash memory with new flash memory. Ensure you program the new flash before soldering in.

Do you know witch of this flash memory is correct for MK3: M29F200b or M29F400. And...one more question, where I can find a dump for those chips, because trying to take one from working MK3 is not so good idea...I think ![]() And...Kiwi, just wanted to thank you for that you are, always heplful and never get tired to explain. May the M-power be with you

While we waiting @Neo1984 to do the test with colors, let me acquaint you with one interesting (according to me) case.
The situation in short: MK3 updated with latest software 3-1/63. I tried to change language and update with a custom one 3-1/65 (works perfect with many others MK3 and MK4), but after 30min waiting I had only black screen. I took CD out and tried v17 (clear, not 17.1) and update was successful. Tried again, but with original v32 mode2 and i got only 15-20 resets and no loading of software. Flash memory, in my opinion is OK, because I can change VIN, I can read nav, I can start language change, but it does not want to update. I swap the mechanical part from working MK3 and.... nothing again. When I put OS CD in navi, NavCoder shows this message in log window every time when system reboot (it reboots at lest 20 times) and tries to load software: 18 0A 68 39 00 02 00 3F 00 04 10 6A CDC --> RAD : CD_status: Stop Request=Pause CD=4 Track=10 CDs_Loaded=P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,P6 The situation for now is: I can change VIN, Model, Languages etc. (the nav is readable), but it does not want to update. The only thing I got on the screen is this: ![]() P.S @autotronic, I sent you a mail about MK3 flash memory

Is this a range rover navi that you are trying to update with BMW software?
