probably the nav has water damage.
To confirm, unplug the nav and have the system running without the nav for a few days. The video module will take over generating the graphics and you will be able to determine how stable the system is. If the system is stable without the nav, then you likely have water damage inside the nav (common problem) This guy can help: Elektronik-Idee |

Corrosion can manifest itself in many strange ways.
Anyway, does the whole system turn off? Incl monitor and radio? Or is the monitor still on (backlight, illumination) and do the monitor buttons control the radio (observe radio display on the IKE) ? |

everything works perfect (radio,CD changer,TV,telephone, monitor and the buttons) while the mk4 unit in the boot is completely off. but when its suddenly on, i have the navigation option on the monitor as well. I tried to use it without the DVD (2010 high), it worked for few days and then its off again. if I have to buy a new mk4, what is my chance to not get it damage by water?.
