Navagation Directions are off

I got a 2009 DVD from the dealer.
I used it all the time living in the Pacific Northwest, and it even managed to get me across country to Maryland.

Here is my problem, I live in Largo, MD and the main street that leads to the freeway is called central ave. well this is not my first time to the rodeo and the freeway on ramps have been in place for years...I will even go as far back as 10 years. well when I want to get on the freeway in the direction of Alexandria/Richmond the system tells me to get on, on the right. But the on ramp is on the left. What gives?

Same thing happens on another major road Branch ave.

My concern is if I purchase an upgraded nav dvd I will still have the issue, along with what other roads are not correct. I still have Washington State plates on my car and the confusion makes me look like a bumbling idiot :-P
amongst some of the most aggressive drivers I have encountered in a while. Lately I have stuck to driving in the center lane since I never really know if the off ramp on the freeway will be on the left or actually on the right when it comes to the nav system.

Anything I can do about this short of spending the money on a new dvd...that may or may not be correct

BMW switched the map data provider in 2010. Your 2009 disk was made by Navteq. The disks from 2010 on are made by Tele Atlas. So, there is a chance that the 2010 disks are correct for your roads with the 2010 disk. The bummer is that there is no way to find out without first buying the disks.

On the slight positive, both Navteq and Tele Atlas have web sites where you can report map data errors. I know from past experience that Navteq is very responsive. You might want to report the error on Navteq's site, even though it won't improve your disk, because the vast majority of GPS devices use Navteq data. If you get a Garmin some day, you would want the data correct. By the same token, if you get a new 2010 disk made by Tele Atlas, and it has the same error, report it on their web site, and it will probably be corrected in their 2012 release.

Aggressive drivers, here around DC??? Come on......have you been to NYC? This place is miserable but I can't say aggressive. The majority around DC drive very poorly and supremely inattentive but not particularly aggressive.


Yup, the BMW nav disks are not very accurate around here. But Md does have an odd habit of flip-flopping ramps around so it may not be all BMW's fault.
