unknown sat nav os?

Hi everyone, newb here another boring os ?,but one thats got me baffled!
E39 530A Nov 2002 Uk model. When in settings screen top right of screen shows as follows:LDE14CRI 12.07.02 17.38,date&time the last two any ideas anyone!

That is the original version of the OS for the MkIV. The MK4 units were shipped with 4-1/10 from the factory at the start (from 09/02 to 10/02) but this version had some known bugs and therefore BMW put the text "T20.10" as a dealer reminder to upgrade with the V20.1 CD when available. You likely see "T20.10" when the unit is first started up.

Definately get that thing upgraded. My advise is to find an interim release to go to before taking it to V26.

cheers much appreciated,what will be the main differences to the present os?
plus only bought the car in june this year, so should the main dealer upgraded to the latest os free of charge,still under warranty until june 2006.

The main differences in the latest OS are new and improved graphics, as well as some additional items such as:

# The actual location is shown as an arrow in a circle.
# The destination is marked with a checkered flag.
# Voice guidance has more words and provides clearer directions.
# Now you can avoid a trouble spot on your route to a destination.
# Main roads are now shown at all times for enhanced visibility at a glance.
# Some graphics changed to enhance visibility at a glance… including icons.
# Map positioning in “Travel Direction” can now be selected in scales up to 100 miles
# Disable point of interest icons is now selectable as on or off

The dealer should upgrade you for free (especially considering the original dealer failed to do the upgrade from that original "temporary" release), although many don't seem to have a clue about this sort of stuff.

nice one dude,will try for the free upgades because i bought the car from the original dealer! although as you say more than likely got no idea,if no joy from dealer will contact BMW GB and see if they can shed some light on the matter.Will keep the forum up to date on outcome.Cheers.
