DVD reads v32 CD, but not DVD anymore

Battery died, and the car needed a jump. When the battery was replaced by a local guy, I think he messed around with the fuses in the glove box.

The DVD drive won't read the OEM DVD anymore. But I re-applied the v32 CD and it worked fine.

Is the DVD laser dead?

If yes, which of these do I need? Home Pagina

Yes, I need help with my system as well. It won't read DVD's either but it will read CDs. I've tried two different DVD's non-copied and it still doesn't work.

So, got tired of no nav, and not skilled enough to do the laser swap. just called the dealership, 175 for a new DVD drive, not bad, going to try to pick it up tonight and toss it in. hope the install isnt hard, which I dont think it will be. The dealership wants 180 for install......more to follow

hey I too have this problem on X5 [E53] MKIV, it used to work fine with Europe High Maps on (DVD+R). When I replaced battery a week ago then DVD unit did not recognize this DVD disk at all. Showing 'No CD/DVD' message. But when I put my old original OEM maps, it is working fine.

Any thoughts on this. I will try with OS V32 upgrade again to see if that works fine.

Kisu San, my advice is order a new MKIV DVD drive from the internet. That's what I did. And replacing the old drive is fairly easy.

You will find part # 65839241764 for approx $115

This doesn't explain why changing the battery will kill the DVD laser.

.. or replace the laser unit.
I wrote a DIY for the change. See here:http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...-nav-unit.html
