Nav screen not working 04 mcs

I have a 04 Mini Cooper S. The factory navigation screen will not power on. The power light is on on the dvd unit under the passenger seat. I can remove the dvd from the unit and reinsert it. The drive does "spin up" and make other noises that a dvd/cd drive usually makes. But the screen never powers on. Its not a back light issue as there is absolutely nothing on the screen at all in any light.

I tried some of the solutions in some of the other threads on here. Burning different disks in special modes. Still nothing works. The screen unit and dvd unit both appear fine. Neither of them smell like mold or burned electronics.

Anyone have any ideas for me? Like I said. 04 Mini Cooper S manuf 12/2003.

Has it ever worked??

It sounds like the mk4 has a corrupted OS and is now dead (has it had some water damage??)

We need a bit more info as to how it happened.

It could be a mono mk4 put in to replace a colour one.

It could be corrupted OS.

It could just be dead.

P.S welcome to the forum.

Have you ever tried to reinstall the Ver. 32 disk for the OS?

Do you have a TV module? If yes it might be defect.
Is the display working for radio mode?
