Start the car and the NAV works without any issue - no "please wait" messages, error messages, etc. Can enter address, start guidance, drive, and experience no problems. If I shut off the car (to get gas, for example), the Nav system will display "Error Reading CD/DVD." The issue does not resolve itself while I'm driving. There are no issues with using any non-nav function. When I shut off the car for an extended period of time (more than 60 minutes), the NAV system again functions, but the address entry is completely blank (have to select country, state, etc. all again) and does not display the last used address. This issue just developed about 2 months ago and is consistent and reproducible. There have been no changes to the vehicle or the NAV computer during this period. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by BMWAaron; 06-27-2013 at 11:34 PM. Reason: typo |

what firmware are you using? is the map disk original, or a burnt backup copy?

It is running a custom version of the latest available software (V32, I believe). That software was installed about 3 years ago. There's a copy of a map DVD I've been using for about 3 years also. Prior to this issue manifesting itself, I never experienced any problems with the NAV system running the installed software or using the copy of the map DVD. I just ordered some new 2013 DVD's thinking the DVD may be the problem. The fact that it only behave this way after being off for a short period of time leads me to believe it's not the DVD (of course, I could be wrong!)

interesting... i started experiencing the same (similar) problem on mine... i correlate the issue to trying to update the language pack off the OE firmware disk... i am going to do the firmware again, see if that will reset anything... somehow i changed the US language pack to GB language pack, and even the Bluetooth started using the GB voice recognition - how in the hell did that happen!!!
when i will reload the OE firmware, i will let you know if that fixed the problem, or not... |
