Exclamation 2002 X5 with mkIII 3-1/63 Help

Hey folks,
I just bought a 2002 X5 with this MKIII and the version of the software is 3-1/63. I am pretty sure you people have talked about this before but I am always at work when I am online and I really cant afford to read through 9000 pages of these forums. Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to where I may find an update for this dinasour MKIII with a little instruction? I read something last night that gave me V-32 upgrade but when I downloaded it, the file was an ISO which I put on a CD and the MKIII spit it out repeatedly!

Please help. My NAV says that mapping for the town I am currently in does not exist.

My recent experience told me not to update whatsoever. I have a MK3 - 2002 X5 as well. I tried to update the software with a wrong CD format. It killed my MKIII while the wrong CD struck inside the unit.

I think all you need is to find the right updated Map CD version (2002 was too old) for your region. You can find it on EBay. Or you can buy a MK4 (DVD version) to replace your MK3 (CD version).

I am in the process to shop an aftermarket head unit with an amplifier built in and sell my original DSP + CD changer+ amplifier later.......Dynavin Android sounds good but not the mainstream product yet. I will go for a Windows CE 6 one.

Happy X5 driving.

I think your right! I have had my eye on this seams to be pretty nice aftermarket replacement with all the bells and whistles Nav/ dvd kit. For a very good price. Think I will sell my MKIII now. So going for 350.00 Any takers?

Thats is the most up to date version, do not try and update it further (IE using a v32), it wont do anything and may damage your drive.

DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN.

Please read all the safety caveats that go with the mk3 mate, if you get this wrong then you risk damageing the drive beyond repair.

The mk3 must be updated in a very particular way.

Then you need a newer map disc (not the same as a n OS update).

Next Issue

Ok Guys,
One more concern. I am going to remove my Nav system completly being how I have sold it already, and I was wondering. Is my vehicle going to be fine for the next week while Im waiting for the aftermarket one to come in? Does it have some sort of connection to the computer that would make it act weird or not act at all? Do i need to remove any chips or crackers from it?

Lost again!!!

I found this solution from another thread. Good luck to those who had the same issue as mine. It apperead my MK3 still has some value once I fix it. Hahaha.... I still plan to buy an aftermarket Android Head unit. I found one that is not Danavin Android. I can not buy it till the manufacturer's Chinese New Year vacation period - around January 30.

MKIII NAV blank screen fix v23

If you own a MKIII and have these symptoms this fix (might ) correct it. fficeffice" />

Symptoms:

Blank Screen with white lines top and bottom.
Radio and CD changer works along with buttons to operate but music shuts off after 2-5 minutes. Can be powered on and same thing happens again music shuts off.
CD is stuck in NAV.
Reasons Why this happened:
You tried to upgrade to v26 with a hack splash screen or other non OEM files.
You tried to upgrade and the cd was corrupted and stopped mid way.
You replaced your battery and this happened.
You changed your radio fuse and this happened.

Tools that you will need:
You need to download v23 at this site. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...ng-system.html
You need to download this burning software ALCOHOL 120%, trial version here Alcohol 120%
Download Winrar 3.51 so you can decompress files here WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

FIX:
Unzip and extract all files to a destination you choose with WINRAR
Open Alcohol 120% and select burn from image, hit browse and select the folder you extracted to. Then select the file with the extension CCD and hit next. You will notice that 3 files populate with about 250mb. Hit next to continue.
Burn at 4x speed on a name brand disc, Memorex and better.
Explore cd to verify that it is readable, do this a few times and make sure it recognizes quickly by your pc and test open and folders or sub folders.
Go to your Beast and turn the key to the 2nd dial, make sure your stereo is off, remove key and close door.
Open trunk, insert CD then CLOSE TRUNK.
Go into the car and turn key to 2nd dial, Stereo should still be off.
Leaving key as is, exit car and close door.
You can wait but it is best to leave car behind for about 30-45mins and come back.
If this works your system will read update complete press okay to reboot.
I am free for lunch.
Your MKIII should have the newest version 3-1/63. This was a nighmare but just wanted to make sure members who encountered this has a step by step approach. Your NAV is not DEAD yet have faith and be patient.

DREW

Or just buy the factory CD from the dealer for $8 to 10. Easier.

True, and I'd like an OEM OS disc as a reference disc, but we in the UK can't get the OEM OS disc through the dealers... (they refuse to sell it to the public).

Anyone in the USA willing to get one and post it to me (I'll pay fees)?
