Wake-on-LAN power source for headrest monitors

No pictures at the moment but I will get them once I am home...

This post is more informational than a query.

I went to install an aftermarket monitors for the headrests in the 4.8iS. I personally prefer OE stuff but I also have the OE monitors and to be honest, I think they could be better. Since the system is not really tied to anything else in the car, I went with aftermarket ones, as they play DVDs with all country coding, have the SD/MMC slot, have built-in speakers, headphones out, IR headphone and FM audio broadcast on several frequencies. Better deal than the factory plain monitors... Anyways...

The system calls only for power supply, so I went under the seat, looking for Ignition-Hot wire that could handle the added load... I did find a yellow plug under the seats and there were rather thick power wires, that definetely could handle the small additional load.

As I test the wires on the driver's seat, it is evident that the power on these wires is not ignition hot, or all the time hot, it is a "wake-on-LAN" power - the power comes on when the car wakes up, and then shuts off when the car goes to sleep, in about 16-20 minutes after the last activity on the car. Well, this will suit my needs, since as long as the power shuts off eventually, that is all I need - as a matter of fact, I like it even better than the ignition hot power...

So, I wire the driver's seat headrest and go for the passenger's side...

Everything is identical, I wire it up, everything is working fine, but... But it looks like the same wires on the passenger side are all time hot... Checking the WDS did not help, as both wiring diagrams showed that both seats are wired identical...

This is not a show stopper, I just will rewire the right headrest to the left seat power and be done with it but this exercise confirms that either the car is wired incorrectly or the WDS does not show all possible wiring options...

WARNING!!! Unplugging the yellow plug under the seats will set off your airbag light in the dash - there is occupant detector mat on the passenger seat that is tied to the force with which the airbag deploys. Be warned!!!

To be accurate, AFAIK: it should only set the light if you turn the key ON when it is unplugged. Fine to unplug them, work on it, then reattach. Just DONT power on the key to test stuff until you are done.

That could have been the case - I was testing the power on hot, so, must've turned the key while unplugged...
