nav error message

i have a 2003 x5 with navi. just started receiving an em stating error reading dvd/cd. also received em stating no dvd/cd in unit when it was. any idea how to fix this? i have already removed the entire unit and let it sit for a few minutes. i appreciate any help!

It could mean your unit is dead. The same thing happened to me, and I got a new MKIV computer.

Retail cost is about $1500. You used to be able to find them on eBay for around $800, but I don't know if the oucome of the guy that got busted stealing these from BMW and selling them on eBay is going to result in higher prices or not
