Can MK4 read DL disks?
Hi guys,
The Nav in my 2005 E53 is failing to read the map disk more and more frequently. I have a backup High ISO but its 6.4GB (DVD9) in size, which will only fit on a DL (dual layer) disk. Would anyone know if this should be readable on a MK4 unit? I've only managed to get hold of DVD+R DL 8.5GB and these definitely don't seem to be readable. As far as I know only -R are compatible? Thanks in advance for any advice/experience Cheers, Kevin Last edited by Kev; 06-15-2013 at 05:28 PM. |

It can, but many MKIV units have difficulty reading copied disks. OP, try an original factory dual layer disk and see if that works any better.

Kev, cut the disc image down so it fits on a SL disc mate, thats what I have done.
Even with the DL OS update (v31/v32) the mk4 is getting on a bit, so don't expect it to work 100% or the time, especially with backups.
