This is Lance over at ZTek Exhaust. I have been working hard with a team to develop a exhaust system for the X5. Anyone interested please post here, PM me or call me at 1-866-ZeroTek or my cell 916-717-8151.

How many of you here in X5 world would be interested in arranging a Group Buy? Please post here:

VIDEOS/SOUND CLIPS:

http://site.zerotek.net/x5-startup-rev.AVI

http://site.zerotek.net/x5-ZTEK-city-drive.wmv

The sound of the startup and rev is very close to the exhaust but the sound and tone is nice and deep, but it is not obnoxious at all, very respectable sounding startup that your neighbors will not be able to hear in their house. Quiet idle, but slightly deeper note. Reving and hard acceleration is deep and throaty, while highway crusing and around town driving is mild, with ZERO resonance and no droning whatsoever (SAME AS STOCK sound levels while crusing on the freeway).

I forgot to mention that we offer a 100% money back guarentee 10days/100miles install it, drive it, and if you don't absolutly love it, then we'll buy it back. But sound clips, dyno sheet, and pics will be coming when we run the dyno.

hi Lance,

Have you already found someone to run the dyno on? I'm in the LA area and have a pretty flexible schedule. Let me know. Thanks.

black chrome tips?

I have stock exhaust on a 4.4 with black chrome factory tips. My X is all blacked out and I like that look. Are there black chrome tips for this system? If so I would be interested!

Since this is an BMW SAV board, give us an update on the testing and group buy for the X5 pipes. Have you get a test vehicle? Did you get any dyno work and sound clips done? Is the group buy still open?

Any more shots from farther away? Don't know if you answered this already, but how big are the tips compared to OEM? Thanks again Lance. :)

Oh, and any clips of it on a 3.0?

The tips are slightly bigger than OEM maybe like 3-5mm larger and are about 11mm longer than the OEM tips and are at a more parallel angle to the rear bumper. I'll try to get some more pics, and the sound should be pretty much the same on the 3.0 since it is the exact same muffler.

Dblock2151 08-24-2006 07:48 PM

Well, the V8 sounds a lot better than the I-6, just trying to get an idea of what it'll sound like. :)

11mm longer? Do the tips of the pipes extend beyond the bumper? If they stick too far out, a car parking behind to come into contact with the tailpipes. Do you have a side view snapshot?

Oh no, since the angle is changed to be inline with the bumper it really doesn't extend much farther than the stock when installed. They are about 50mm inside the farthest point of the bumper.

Here are all the rest of the pics I have:

I am interested in the Ztek but I do not know if it is going to be loud enough. I really want a nice rumble from my 4.6! Will there be a choice of "loudness" of the exhaust systems?

I would also want the 4.6 tips. I know Lance said of 10 or more were interested they could make them with the 4.6 tips. Not sure if anyone else would be interested in a 4.6 tips.

ljnlaw 08-30-2006 10:51 AM

I thought the pipes were only made and tested for the 3.0 and the 4.4...they have not tested the pipes for the 4.6...is this correct

nupe10123 08-30-2006 11:57 AM

I'm in LA and interested if space still available.

As far as I know the pipes on all three are interchangable.

We have been trying to look for a donor x5 to do the dyno on, but we weren't able to secure a spot.

All our exhausts are diameter matched to the exact specificaitons of the engine and exhaust configuration to produce useable power gains. We back all of our exhausts witha 100% money back guarentee and a lifetime warrenty.

Interested in the exhaust? Feel free to give me a call at 1-866-Zero-Tek during business hours. Cheers!

I wasn't very impressed with the quality of the videos, can we get some more with engine under load, revving (done right), etc?

DipnX5 06-08-2007 04:30 PM

Yeah if it sounds different on the 3.0 I cannot think about buying it w/o sound clips on the 3.0

wmtodd 06-13-2007 03:17 AM

:iagree: want to upgrade 3.0 just need so get some clips

DipnX5 06-13-2007 11:42 AM

How about cutting me a deal and then I will get some sound clips?
