If I knew all yall were going to be in, I would have arranged a group buy.

SILENTx5 07-05-2005 12:41 AM

pretty neat idea. hmm if everyone's getting a set, someone should set up a group buy :D

motordavid 07-05-2005 07:01 AM

Yeah, let's do a group buy...If you want, I'll contact the co., late this afternoon after chasing the ball, and see what kinda quantity order they would need for a lil'discount. Drop a post or PM or email if you are serious about getting them...never done a GBuy, but I assume they'll "drop ship" to each of us.

If someone here is a previous master of GBuys and wants to step up, I have no prob...jes'offered to get it going and do an inquiry.

for a sec i thought it was the actual rim that spins and i was like daamn x5world has gone nuts. Stock rim spinners haha. But now i read it and thats kinda cool that the bmw symbol does not spin.

motordavid 07-05-2005 04:14 PM

I got in 20 mins ago and hunted around on that link
Wagner pasted: it has no address or phone #, so I
just sent an email inquiry off to the company pitching
the desire for a "group buy" and asking for some kind
of discount.

I have no idea how the co.
would identify "us" via that not so secure PayPal
order site. (It keeps showing up on my 'puter as
not 100% secure with an "expired security Cert".)

NEway, that's my story and I'm waiting to hear
back fromt he BimmerSpinner people.

Also, this link from their site, shows the wheels
that the Spinner supposedly fits on; Style 69
wheels are not on that list. Though, I'm gonna
measure my caps and see if it is the "general fit."

http://www.bimmerspinner.com/centercap.htm

(Spinners in high school and college were young
women whom weighed 100 lbs or less, said the
ol'Troglodyte.) :D
I'll let ya'll know as soon as I hear from them.
BR, md

pseto 07-05-2005 04:15 PM

They don't have style 87 listed as one of the wheels that these would fit, otherwise, I'd get a set too.

B-Line 07-05-2005 06:33 PM

If those will fit on the 4.8is wheels.. I'll take a set too..

BLING. BLING..

(Hey I just noticed, my handle B-Line is changed to BLING with only one letter.. Maybe I should change my name to BLING LINE, lol...

Not sure I "get" it? The center BMW roundel doesn't spin? How close do you need to stare at the wheel to realize this? These are not "bling" spinners like you might see on a Navigator in the hood.

It's a visual Gizmo, :D .
The Roundel stays stationary, even at speed,
and at rest, the Roundel is always "right side up"
and centered. Mileage may vary, :p

Shaka, & the rest of the Regs&Faves...
I just heard back from the SpinnahJoint. Here's the
email from the main man and his group buy offer:

"David;

I would be happy to provide a "group purchase" of BimmerSpinners for
members of the* x5world* forum. This looks like an well run forum, and
it certainly has a lot of useful information for X5 owners.

I normally do a group purchase by sending all the products ordered to a
single address at one time, however, in you case I will be able to
support it as follows:

* I will offer your members a special *x5world* forum price of
$69.00 for a 30 day period, starting tomorrow, July 7.
* your members should send a check for $69.00 plus $5.95 shipping
and handling for a total of $74.95 to Skene Design, the
manufacturer of the BimmerSpinner, and identify themselves as
x5world subscribers. Virginia resident should include $3.45 state
sales tax, for a total of $78.40.
* I will ship the BimmerSpinners within 2 weeks of the receipt of
each payment

I hope that this offer will be attractive to your membership.

Best Regards;
Jerry Skene - Skene Design"

Shaka, if you are willing to be the GuineaPig, order at reduced rate. Your offer of a test is exc. and appreciated!

The REVIEW is IN...

5 Attachment(s)
So I recieved the spinners today via USPS Priority Mail. They were shipped exactly as advertised on the website. Using the included removal tool (a suction cup) I wiped each OEM cap, pressed on the tool and pulled off easily (total time: 1 minute).

I then compared the OEM vs. the spinners...
OEM Cap - raised grey/green outer lip, silver is a matte stainless steel color, entire surface is flat.
Spinner Cap - No lip, wider outer ring, silver is chrome in color and raised.

The spinning is achieved by the use of a small triangular weight on the back that rocks the spinner to the correct orientation in ~5 seconds.

Per the instructions, I pressed each cap onto each wheel (total time: 1 minute). Each cap rotated correctly into place.

Shaka intends to keep his, I think they look great! While seemingly subtle I have been flagged down twice tonight by fellow bimmer owners who wanted to know where I got them... I should have held out for a commission. ( <--- damn sales guys).

Except for differences noted in the review they seem identical. The backs have the same tabs and design as the OEM. Additionally I attempted to pick the graphics off ( to see if they were molded vs. adhesive letters ), they did not budge and are professional in appearance.

Actually, I have been playing so much golf lately that it caused a blister to form :D . During today's round it opened therefore...

jskene 07-09-2005 09:22 AM

I am the manufacturer of the BimmerSpinner. Shaka - I am happy that you liked your new set.

They are fabricated using stock OEM center caps, so the quality of the logo is excellent - typically BMW. As you can see from Shaka's photos, the grey plastic ring is removed, and the chrome ring around the roundel logo is now framed by a black plastic ring. This sets off the logo much better than the original design, and the black frame looks better against alloy wheels.
You can see the details here:
BimmerSpinner

To order your set under the X5world group buy organized by motordavid, which is valid until August 6, send me an email and I'll give you the mailing address for your check.

will they fit 4.8 rims?

jskene 07-19-2005 07:40 AM

BimmerSpinner now fits type 123, 132, 69, etc. wheels

The BimmerSpinner will now fit any wheels that accept the stock center cap.
The early version would not fit wheels with a deeply recessed center,
such as the 69, 87, 123, 132, but the design has been modified so that it now fits all wheels
that accept the stock center cap (BMW part no. 36 13 6 768 640).

If your center cap looks like this:

http://www.bimmerspinner.com/images/..._centercap.jpg

then a BimmerSpinner will fit.

The real question is whether these will fit on a Honda so that loser with the Honda Accord posing as a 745i can fit them to his wheels. (Note the very uncool upside down roundel on the wheel.)

Thanks x5world, for the large number of BimmerSpinner orders!

This is a great forum. You all seem to enjoy your vehicles, and I'm sure you will appreciate them even more with this modification.

Can't wait to snap mine on.

This is a great forum. You all seem to enjoy your vehicles, and I'm sure you will appreciate them even more with this modification.

Most orders have already been shipped, and the remainder will ship today. Shipping takes 2-3 days, so you should all have yours by Wednesday - except for Chris in Australia - that will take few extra days.

Mahalo Mr. Skene  and Aloha.

dan_fitz 07-25-2005 03:47 PM

Did any of you end up ordering these? How easy is the install??

ncx 07-25-2005 03:54 PM

Lots of them have been ordered. Read Shaka's post on p.4 for installation. It is a 5 minute job.

dan_fitz 07-25-2005 04:00 PM

My bad, I am new to the site and did not realize that there were 8 more pages!!! Passionate group of X5 owners. Any word if these will fit BMW cars as well? I have an '01 M3 but do not know the style #. It is the base 18" rim. I am going to order a set of (non) spinners for my X5, but may want to order 2 so both cars match.

rangerfan 07-25-2005 07:10 PM

Got mine in the mail today. Install took all of 3 minutes. They look great!

The http://bimmerspinner.com site has a chart of wheels that will work.

Got mine today. Like RF wrote, about 3 minutes to install.

jskene 07-25-2005 07:34 PM

The BimmerSpinner will fit any BMW wheel that takes a stock center cap. That certainly includes the E46 M3 - what I drive.

A photo of the stock cap, and special x5world pricing, can be found at:

Got mine today too, but will install this weekend after cleaning the truck :D.

Just installed mine...very easy! They are a lot of fun!

What Rangerfan, Haigha, and Mr. D. said.

Ditto.

Quick and easy install, looks great.

Thanks, Jerry.

Just got mine tonight and put them on. Had to get he X washed because dirty wheels and clean spinners just don't look right.

Well I did not want to feel left out!

ktulu 07-29-2005 12:36 PM

Got mine in and put on and they look good. Has anyone noticed that they still spin or is that just me? I mean they don't spin as much but they still spin. I was under the impression that they should stay fairly still even while driving? Perhaps more counterweight is needed?

jskene 07-29-2005 12:58 PM

Your BimmerSpinners are certainly NOT supposed to spin!

They are bench tested here before shipping to an equivalent speed of 150 mph.

Please email me at [email protected] to discuss this.

I just ordered my set of Spinners...
as one of the orig knuckleheads instigating this GB,
I thought I better jump in, too! :D

Thanks to Shaka for digging and Jerry S for the GB
deal. By the bye, my PayPal deal acct will show up

Mine don't spin... which is why I get stopped/flagged in the Palo Alto/SF corridor (the NorCal BMW spotting capital) so often. I am super cruising with my almond latte at around 85 MPH on the 101 and the only thing that is not a blur of titanium or black on my X are me spinners... I LOVE IT.

X5Jay 07-29-2005 03:59 PM

How do you guys know if they're spinning or not at highway speeds? I was with my kids on the highway yesterday and we were lining up w/shiny cars so we could see what was happening in the reflection. It seems to me that they do spin at a certain mph, but didn't get a chance to do a full test. I think they start spinning at about 40mph...

I know because I had a buddy of mine ride along side of me on the highway. Speed ~65MPH

Yeh I did the same thing..then I drove downtown alongside shiny buildings..then just to make sure I put the car in drive and ran along side it...forgot I lived on a hill though :bustingup j/k

I plan on trying it again tonight but this time I am going to ride along side and se if the reflection I am seeing isn't just an optical conclusion! :dunno:

Thanks Jerry for such a quick response!

Why do I have this funny feeling that eBay is about to have about 100 listings for used BMW center caps? :D

janagler 07-29-2005 04:52 PM

I just got mine, but can not pop off my existing center caps. I have a set of 4.6 replicas that I bought from truckaccesoryoutlet, does anyone have any advice?

Did you get the suction cup tool with your spinners? If not, any decent suction cup should do the trick. They came out very easily on my 132's...

Did you push in with the suction cup and then pull straight back quickly? The snap motion seems to get them right off.

janagler 07-29-2005 05:23 PM

I tried the suction cup, but it isn't working, do I need to loosen them around the sides first somehow?

Make sure your centercaps are clean, the cup wont stick to dirt or dust. Also, light moisture on the inside of the suction cup may help. You could pry the caps up gently with a small flat blade screwdriver but I really don't think you will have to do that.

Good looking product, Jerry, and I am already getting looks when I drive through the city. I've got the Porsche lug caps and the spinners, now I just need some 20" style 87's.

I tested mine today with a spotter car and this was the result:

- 1st run, cruising at 65mph = rock steady
- 2nd run, cruising at 80mph = steady
- 3rd run, accelerated at full throttle from 0-90 and kept it at 90. They were spinning at 90. Don't know if the hard acceleration had anything to do with getting them spinning.
- 4th run, normal acceleration to 90 = perfectly steady.

So, IMO, they are doing their job just fine.

My 1st "Mod"?!

Received my Spinners today! Got home from chasing the ball, (an 84), and there they were!

Took this ol'clutzyfool about 5 mins to swap them out, and 3 mins of that was the effort to sit down & stand back up, 4 times, from the concrete gar. floor, :o . Damn those floors are getting hard.

Look Titz and spin nicely, coming to rest w/the BeamER Roundel, straight up and down. Thanks to Jerry and his Group Buy!

Hey! This is my firstfookingMod,

 Well Dan, thanks for the compliment...
But, I must admit that I am an "older dude", as in
58 this month. Here's a repeat pic of me and my
granddaughter from almost a year ago. She looks a lot
different; I haven't changed much, externally, :D .

Titz was sorta slang for cool back in the U, circa
'65 to '70...glad you picked up on that!

Got 'em

Received mine yesterday. Placed the order on the 1st and received them on the 4th. Got home and my wife was holding the package and my face just lit up (I think I had gas). This is my first official "mod", now the only thing I have to do is wait for my ordered X5 to arrive (still no tracking number from dealer). The product looks great in the box and hopefully even better on my new X5. Thanks...

jskene 08-07-2005 08:11 AM

Well, I am thrilled that my customers are buying BimmerSpinners for a car they don't yet have!

I also had a customer who decided to buy new BMW wheels to fit his new BimmerSpinners. It seems he had incompatible aftermarket wheels, that he didn't like much anyway. :)

Just a reminder that the X5world group buy discount expires today so if you want a set, go to the special X5world page at:

So can we expect any more cool mods from you in the future, jerry?? :D

How many did you sell?

So the real question is how many sets did you sell?

If you haven't done so already you should head over to e46fanatics.com where you will sell a ton also...

How about illuminated bimmerspinners when you turn the headlights on... yeah that's the ticket

How much for the upgrade :D

RealShakaZulu 08-11-2005 12:07 AM

I would like to see future spinners with the plastic OEM base and an aluminum disc with a matte silver edge.

Jerry, thanks for hooking me up by shipping to an alternate address.
i received them while on vacation and couldn't wait until i got home to put them on.
Thanks Again!
