Job Interview Question
Contemplate this Job Interview Question. The answer will come when the site comes back up. If you know the answer let others contemplate how they would solve this moral/ethical dilemma. Remember it's just for fun.
You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus: 1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die. 2. An old friend who once saved your life. 3. The perfect man (or) woman you have been dreaming about. Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car. Think before you continue reading. This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application. |
since it's for fun
it's not #3 because there is no such thing as a perfect man or woman. it's not #1 because there is no compelling reason to help her out besides the assumption that she looks like she needs help. Who knows? She might be some psychopath. Although i could provide reasons for it being #1 I think it's #2 i just don't know why. |
No 1: I chose this one because its dark and she could be easily taken advanatage.
No 2: I already thanked him/her for saving my life and should have moved from that. No 3: She may not be that perfect at all. |
that's easy with 1 caveat - it has to be the perfect woman...
give the car keys to the old friend who once saved your life and have him drive the old lady home. Go chill with the perfect woman... done! except is only somewhat moral/ethical.. LOL Quote:

what josh said.exactly the *best* answer.

That question is so old that any company that would use it as an interview question probably isn't worth working at. If someone asked me that in an interview i'ld probably walk out.... unless the job was Playboy staff photographer :)

I think that is the right answer though...the perfect woman would see how sensative you are for giving the car to your pal and taking the old woman home that she would just melt for you....i.e. wedding crashers...rule #23 "Dance with old woman and little girls so that chicks will think that your sensative and kind."
|
My answer will depend on what position I am interviewing for. It's all BS and they are trying to get into your mind!
|
hmm. but the question is do you want to keep the perfect woman?? she will no doubt be expensive to maintain.. LOL

OK. It's time for the answer:
You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first; or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again. The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. He simply answered: "I would give the car keys to my old friend, and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams." Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box." |
haha.. that's what I thought..
I ask much harder questions than that when I hired people for my group.. BTW.. you don't have to wait for the bus.. I'm sure there are hotels near by or a cab for that matter. Quote:

Thanks for posting the answer, Quicksilver.
I thought Josh nailed it, but I remained somewhat troubled by the fact that the driver passed by a "bus stop," and saw three people "waiting for the bus." I was trying to figure out how the inclusion of these facts might be relevant to the answer. Now, I know. :) |

I hear 'ya.
The staying behind with the woman of my dreams "waiting for the bus" together part sealed it for me. If the driver had driven past those three people standing somewhere else, either together or alone separately, that would spin the answer. That's what I got hung up on, I guess. :) Good post. |
no kidding.. could be the short bus for that matter!
