Political Compass

Where do you rank?
http://politicalcompass.org/

I'll post my scores once I'm done... :)

ricky.agrawal 01-22-2006 01:01 AM

In 2002 I was
Economic Left/Right: 4.50
Authoritarian/Libertarian: 1.95

In 2005 (about a year ago) I was
Economic Left/Right: 3.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.69

Now I am
Economic Left/Right: 5.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.46

Fun to see where the point on the map has gone :)

X5Flyboy 01-22-2006 03:58 AM

:wow: scored -3.5 economic and -1.79 social

considering I mostly vote republican, went (my choice) to a military college in the '60's, flew in the Navy, worked at my family business (27+yrs)(which also did ~50% defense related work), made most of my money in the stock market, I find myself more a Southern Democrat than a Yankee Republican.

Very interesting.

statdoc 01-22-2006 10:08 AM

Economic Left/Right: 4.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.28

Wagner 01-22-2006 11:45 AM

Economic Left/Right: -3.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.36

DinanX5 01-22-2006 12:53 PM

Economic Left/Right: -4.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.51

...wifey is -3.50 / -2.41. Guess we're a good match!

statdoc 01-22-2006 02:33 PM

Come on guy and gals! Take the test and post. So far, Ricky and I are the only right-thinking individuals! :)

ricky.agrawal 01-22-2006 02:40 PM

ricky.agrawal : 5.25 / -2.46
burkleymh : -3.5 / 1.79
statdoc : 4.00 / 1.28
WagnerX5 : -3.38 / -0.36
DinanX5 : -4.50 / -2.51
Mrs. DinanX5 : -3.50 / -2.41

What I'm really curious is how much I'll change again after a year or two in college. I know from 2002 to now I've had two very liberal-minded history teachers (apparently they said they taught that perspective to outbalance the conservative textbook.. which it was so I appreciate that). On top of that I've been taught that the (I hope I get this term right) political dichromatism doesn't mean much in ways of how an individuals actions can be categorized. Oh so much blah blah blah :)

This will be fun to see where people side once elections start up!

Agreed! Surveys like this are fun (I've been passing it around the office... ), and sometimes they're even enlightening. e.g. I know a couple of people here at work that fancy themselves pretty conservative, but their 'compass' reading pointed more toward Gandhi than Bush!!
Like you said Ricky, this doesn't mean their actions/beliefs will always stay consistent with this 'for fun' survey, but it tells me that sometimes people allow themselves to be herded into a certain camp of thought and politics, when in reality, they're more aligned elsewhere... ;)

Interesting post considering I just voted today. Frankly, I'm a bit surpised at my economic score but I attribute that to the choice and wording of the questions.

I couldn't bring myself to vote for the party I support because the local candidate is a bit of a Nazi. He's on record for calling Nelson Mandela a terrorist.

Speaking of politics, the Conservatives won!

The Liberals' leader, Paul Martin (former PM), has quit politics today, immediatly after being defeated.

ylwjacket 01-24-2006 03:02 PM

I was at 4.00/-0.56

I complain all the time about our Libertarian Governor masquerading as a Republican. Maybe I should cozy up to him instead.

Hey, but you're in Toronto and the Conservatives got shut out in Toronto. What gives? Are they afraid they won't be the "center of the universe" with a Conservative government? I hate Harper's social and religious views, but it was definitely time for a change. He'll no doubt tone his personal views down a bit now that he's in power in a minority position.

I didn't even know I was libertarian - I thought I was conservative!

(I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken)
