We have no delay in the UK

Where my permanent residence in Europe is we have all the frequencies, evens and odds. RDS works perfectly there. I believe BMW uses the same radios in all different markets. In the radio's configuration menu it is possible to change the region. This enables and disables some functions that may or may not be typically available in the market. For example RDS PTY function is one of them.

For a while I'm in Canada and bought some cars here. I have been trying to find an aftermarket radio with RDS for my other car with poor results. None of the decent radios have RDS available. I have found only one or two models and those both were not good...

Are these the 2 models you're talking about ? Seems these are the only 2 models with RDS available in the US market from Crutchfield.:(

You're right if it's Finland, because of how far North the country is situated.

Those are the ones. I have no experience with Kenwood units. For some reason they just seem to be missing something that would even make them interesting to go take a look at. Here is one example from Pioneer that would be nice. It has built in bluetooth and some other nice features.

I also found a few nav/dvd aftermarkets but again those are not good for me since the dvd area is North America and dvds bought in Europe won't most likely work on the player. So I guess my only option is order one from overseas as well.

One good web store is Pixmania. They have a good selection of electronics with reasonable prices. I don't know if the ship overseas...

i just want an alpine unit, i wish UK alpine units with RDS will work in the US:( .

if you set your pre-sets out of the RDS signal range you won't get the delay.
for example, i set my presets for CT stations while I was in Boston, and set my Boston presets in CT. I get the delay on one station now, 93.7, because the frequency exists in both markets as different stations. does that make sense?

my X5 with nav has RDS, and I had an old kenwood (2000) in my cherokee that had it as well.
i am going to be purchasing an HD radio soon from Boston Acoustics as we have a bunch of side channels that are on in hartford, boston and ny.
