Irfanview: Help

I'm trying to get my Meet pics uploaded but theyre too damn big. I can't get them small enough with irfanview. Also the image quality suffers when converting. Any ideas?

I use the Microsoft Office Picture manager or Photoshop elements and it works for me.

Photoshop Elements is the way to go if you don't mind spending $70. Just "save for web" and you're all set.

Open the picture and then hit Ctrl-R. In the pop-up window on the right size there are options to resize the picture to other standard sizes. Click on 640x480.

Next do a File --> Save As and change the format to JPEG. I usually then change the save quality to 80 and save the file. That should result in a good quality image that is much less than 100K (usually around 60K +/-)

Costco has v4 for $79.99 for the upgrade if you already own a lower version.

Well, thanks for all your suggestions guys. I ended up uploading everything to photbucket last night before any of your posts. I'll make my meet thread soon.

btw, I think it's crazy to pay 79.99 for any software when you can dowload it for a much better value of $0. I have heard Photoshop Elements is good, but didn't know I can resize with it.

Resizing is 1 of about 1,000,000 things that you can do with PSE. Irfanview isn't in the same product caterogy as PSE....
