My uncle's a dentist and I've been using the whitening trays for a few months. Teeth are pretty white, but I don't like putting them in and sleeping. Sorta uncomfortable to me, but the results are great. At first, my teeth were a little sensitive, but it went away pretty quickly.

Anyone try Britesmile?

So you did the Britesmile thing for an hour? Any side effects?

um the only thing I would call a side effect was only being able to eat white foods for like 2 days other then that they were fine, expensive thou, so not sure their worth it?

I did Britesmile a few years ago while living in OC. It was quite an intense process with pretty impressive results. At the time it was going for ~$500, but I got it for $300. Now with that being said, a much less expensive alternative is to get custom fitted trays made by your dentist and use a product like Zoom teeth whitening gel. I ran into a deal in this area about a year ago from my dentist that included teeth cleaning, x-rays, custom trays and whitening gel all for $160.00. New patient special.

IMO if you get custom trays, and use maybe a 22% Zoom gel whitening product, you can achieve equal results to Britesmile for a lot less money. The upside to getting trays over Britesmile, is that whenever you need a recharge, you are good to go in about an hour, compared to Britesmile which is a one time deal.

Yeah I saw your earlier post; but I was looking for conveinece. I don't want to go the dentist at all. So the less the better. I also heard that the trays made the gums sensitive?

You really can't get any more convenient than trays. You whiten when you want, where you want. Trays don't make your teeth sensitive, gel that is too strong, or used for too long a period of time will do that. What's the difference between going to a dentist and going to a Britesmile center? Same diff. Whatever you decide, get your teeth cleaned prior, and for that you will need a dentist ;)

My brother is a dentist and he made a tray for me. I always had sensitivity issues with the gel. You need to stay away from staining food such as coffee Coke and cigs otherwise you would need to repeat the process soon.

Two Questions:

1. Is occasional whitening bad for your teeth, or is this a myth? If so, why or why not?

2. If you have whitening done and drink coffee in the morning and consume red wine 3-4 times a week at night, is it pointless to have whitening done?

Sounds like there are some folks in the know here...
