LOL does the license plate bracket on the Viper say "Porsches for breakfast....Ferraris for lunch"???

TahoeM3 03-13-2006 01:08 AM

That Viper looks really sharp...I just wish they would step it up on the build quality, electronics, and the interior.

They do, it's called a C6Z06 :) :)

Very nice stable by the way... I wish I had the room for 3 cars at my joint... :(

soccerjunky 03-13-2006 11:46 AM

Actually the build quality is excellent... probably most viper owners take their vipers to the track and hammer em pretty hard... it comes stock with 500+ hp and there is endless hp upgrades.. for instance a supercharger for less than 10 k pushes u over 700hp...

The interior i love .... it fits me like a glove.... the ride is living on the edge....

The ride of a z06 is like a viper with training wheel but even when u get the z06 on the street it is a little stiff..its kinda like a virgin with a big dick.... they complain about it being uncomfortable, it hurts,etc...get a chick with experience and they love it

Electronics ... yea the stereo speaker quality is poor... but easily upgraded for around $100....

And finally if u r a poser the viper is quite the attention whore..

There are also limitless aftermarket accessories for the poser and hp freak...only the f430 sounds as sweet as the srt10 with a corsa track exhaust

check out this stereo mod

Are you saying that because of the Z's traction control? It can be easily turned off, or changed to competition mode.

I'm surprised that you say that Z's suspension is stiff compared to a Viper, actually, i'm surprised that you say it's uncomfortable as well.

Even though I own a Z, i'm a fan of the viper, DC just needs to fix a few things before I would buy one.

Those are stock upgrades or mods? (sorry, I haven't seen the interior of the new vipers yet)

Nice...can you post more pics? I'd like to see what upgrades if any are available for the center console and gauges. The ergonomics on the last gen Viper were terrible...so bad I couldnt sit comfortably inside the car. The new one is better and has less of that "made in the garage" feel to it, but it's still disappointing for a car in that price range. Also, I'd really like to see them put in traction control with different modes like the Z06, but I know they won't.

Indeed it does, and I'd have to agree with that statement. That license bracket however missed what's for dinner. C6 Corvettes, of any suit.

Well, except the Z06 which is faster and outperforms it in every way. ;)

the viper is faster and outperforms in every way...actually a lot depends on the drivers.

Both are great, but c'mon...stock vs stock the C6 Z06 is definitely faster.

soccerjunky 03-13-2006 05:19 PM

the following was written by an individual who races both

OK,since I have both(thus no axe to grind)let me jump in here. The two cars are equal enough for the driver to be the difference.Allowing for normal production differences between identical cars, one Vette or Viper may be slightly slower than another. The same driver may be faster in one rather than the other-there's a fairly dramatic difference in the feel of the two,and confidence and personal preference go hand-in-hand.Different tracks and weather conditions can affect test results, which is one reason published numbers are all over the place. The handling on the C6Z06 is more neutral than the Viper's;that combined with the stock tires makes it easier to get the rear end out;it's nothing really evil, but enough to shake one's confidence a bit at speed. With stickier tires,I suspect the two cars would be fairly even on a road course.Another consideration is that the Viper makes more power under the curve, where it's easier for most of us to use;the Vette requires a bit more attention to keep it up in the power band.On the flip side, the Vette seems a little easier to launch consistently from a standing start.I definitely agree with Brian on one thing-on stock tires,I strongly prefer the Viper in the rain: the new gy's on the vette hydroplane

Thunder22 03-13-2006 05:21 PM

you have a C6Z?

Thunder22 03-13-2006 05:28 PM

Yup, shouldn't let women drive Z's in the rain.

I thought that while we were all generalizing, i'ld jump on the bandwagon :)

Got any pics of your C6Z?

Fair enough...I'd agree that the differences in performance are small enough that most people will never know. On a road course, it's going to be all driver, while in straight line runs the edge goes to the Z06 in most cases given competent drivers. Whatever the case, I'd say the limits on both cars are high enough that each should have traction control available to save the driver from doing something really stupid.

Were the photos you showed of stock Viper interiors or were they mostly done in the aftermarket? I did research this a bit ago and was never able to find anybody that was doing any good quality custom interior work on Vipers in the aftermarket.

soccerjunky 03-13-2006 05:48 PM

the red mamba had some aftermarket work done... use this link
http://www.vipertrim.com/srt_accessories.html

Or u can also contact a guy who goes by snake hydes on the viperalley.com board although he catches a lot of s..t on that board....All the graphite inserts on the viper with the stereo upgrade can be found at this link

more quotes from c6 owners and car dealers

Build quality of a C6 vs. Viper---NOT EVEN CLOSE. I had a C5 and C6. The orange peel which is awful was almost the least of the problems. The C6 had a new electrical problem each time I got in the car and fit and finish was lousy which is not surprising given that they knocked out 38,000 of them in 05. Also i had to wait 3 months while the car sat in the lot at the factory while they tried to get the tranny to work .

I have owned 3 Vipers and they have been put together like Maybachs compared to the Vettes and the other problem is that when something goes wrong there ain't no such thing as a Vette tech--you get whomever is on duty. Don't get me wrong--I love Vettes but their build quality isn't even close

I would have to agree. The build quality vs a Vette is night an day. Yes afterall a Viper is american so you are not getting BMW like interiors and such but for an American car I think the build quality is excellent. If you compare this to a Caddy, Vette, or Mustang, you are shocked at the difference.

My SRT/10 is two days away, but my 2000 GTS amazed me at the quality and workmenship the went into it. For 450hp and the amount of track time I put into it, it never quit, rattled, or broke. The quality of my 2000 is one of the reasons I have no problem paying $60K for my next one.

As you are the only one who has seen this car, I have elected to consider your view as personal observation, which is what it appears on the surface. For us to assume that maybe a few sneak through that may not be quite up to normal standards is a rational assumption with any handbuilt car, yet I think we ( Woodhouse) are in the position to also enter a fair rebuttal on the quality we have seen in 2006.What you observed , I believe, is very uncommon on the new Coupe, as we have sold over 30 since last Fall. Including all the ones we have just recieved, we have noticed a marked improvement over the past few years --- and yes, the quality is much better than 03 , which in turn was better than the Gen IIs. DC has been much more observant to issues that caused damage at the Plant or during shipping, and fitment of panels , interiors, etc. has elevated itself to a point that a problem is extremely rare. But please, do not take my word for it, we have had no complaints from any of our customers on the fit & finish issue ( which was common on Gen IIs ) and we seldom have a claim with the factory or with shipping. Common sense says that surely one may have gotten under the radar, but overall considering the Viper is a hand-built car, the response about the car has been much better than in the past. What I have found over the years , since we trade for so many Vettes, is that previous Chevy owners tell us ( unsolicited ) that the Snake is the better built of the two cars. So jump back in there and get another Serpent, as you likely found one that shed it's skin too soon, and the rest are all silky smooth and ready to strike

my 06 coupe, looks badasp. My buddy just bought a c6 and is very happy, but it is in the shop already because the drivers door does not align with the strike plate. Its almost like someone hung on the edge of the door. Car has only 1,000 miles. He likes my car way better

Looks like the american public that actually drives these cars has spoken
