Made the plunge.. newest toy
I finally decided on a grill. I got a 41" Viking with TruSear infrared. I was going to do the 53", but then someone mentioned that you really only need that much space once in a while. Since you really need to use all the burners every time you turn the grill on (to make sure the grill heats properly) it would be a huge waste of gas to get the 53". I also looked at a DCS, but they drop down to a 36" from thei 48", and that's just too small.
I got the natural gas version. They're installing the line this week and the grill comes on Friday. I can't wait to see how it compares to my old Weber (which I love). Supposedly with the Trusear you can do some amazing stuff... sear the outside of steaks while the inside stays rare... same thing with tuna... should be fun. That's a really, really nice grill! We've got... I think a Weber.
Ms. Moran has a Viking grill, and it's the biggest one they make. It's able to cook something like 64 hamburgers at one time, or so she says. |

I really do not like her though... She's too much of a snob for even me! |

In about 3-4 years I'm hoping to take a year off, take my kids out of school, and head down to the islands and live on a sailboat. I just need to figure out how to fit all the luxuries of home on it. But I also need an ATV so I can plow my driveway during the winter (at least that's what my wife thinks is the reason) :dunno: |

I did the built-in WOLF 36" w/sideburners last fall. I love the permanent hook up to natural gas, no more tanks and no more ashes http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Did the bird on the rotisserie on Thanksgiving, came out great. One important thing to remember is to always keep the sub-zero stocked with ice cold Corona ... you never know when the chef might need cooling off :beerchug: Looking forward to a long grilling season. Dennis |
AMAZING GRILL....
Congrats... I hope to install one myself one day.. |

L: Now that's a fineazz grill! Makes me wanna go out on the deck and kick the crap outa my 3 1/2 yr old, elcheapo, not hot enough, Lowe's sourced, Weber. (Which, by the way, does not run as hot or as well as my Orig Weber, now 20 yrs old, still humming back in NY, that I gave away to our ex-cleaning lady.)
My grill shopping beef is that besides the 300-600 buck Webers, there really is not a brand I've found that can really del. the Btus needed, unless one steps Way Up to a level like your new machine. Maybe you, or some of the Regs&Faves have a rec'd on a -non large, non-fancy, rugged & long lasting, non-sideburnered, non-2G+ HOT grill? NEway, Grill Envy here, man! BR,md PS: CF is a good looking young man, yes?! |

My father used to swear by his charcoal weber. You'd compliment him on how amazing something came out, and he'd just say "it was the weber". He'd roll over in his grave if he saw me cooking with my new behemoth (not gas!!!).
I really like the 5 year old weber genesis we have. My biggest complaint was flare up with grease. A lot of the searching I did over the past few weeks focused on grease management. I was all set to go with DCS (who has the best grease management system) but then a couple of people told me their quality has gone downhill in the past couple of years. The wanted me to buy a "capital" grill, but since I've never heard of them I went for the Viking. I'll miss my Weber though! |

grease flare ups and overall quality. I'll find a better, but not break the bank grill for the other seasonal joint. Jeesssshh, I sound like I'm obsessing here on freaking grills, but we do grill 3-4 nights/week and I consider myself an excellent grill mechanic, as opposed to "cook". |
dude.. you should just come to Norcal to pick up my Genesis Silver B..
I'm getting rid of it... Quote:
