Wow........I echo everyone's comments........glad that you & everyone else are OK and no one got hurt. That kind of stuff is scary.

wow, thank god nobody was hurt ... you're all very lucky indeed. and yes, i agree with an above-posted response that the flashbacks will probably persist with decreasing freuqency for up to several months, so don't try to fight them ... and get yourself back behind the wheel of a car ASAP so you don't let the shock turn into fear. just my humble opinion: kinda like when you hurt your ankle, try to get walking on it right away. um, sorta. :)

By the way, make sure to keep up your fluids & vites/minerals. Shock like that, especially through the spinning out and the aftermath of it, can take a lot out of your system. I'd encourage everyone involved to take a multi. Sound small, but most people feel fatigued for days after shocks, and this can help.

If you haven't already, give everyone in that X5 a hug. Don't forget they are likely going thru the same flash-back as you. Someone advised me before that when you get those nightmarish flash-backs, counter it with the fact that the worst didn't happen, for a reason. Prayers can also accelerate your recovery:-) Worked for me long time ago

Ticket for careless driving?
 

I echo the sentiments of those who are glad you are well...

Now, about that ticket...What the hell kind of a law is there where you are ticketed for something this coincidental? And who in the hell was there to observe you driving 'carelessly'? It sounds like this was an accident and purely due to circumstances caused by the road conditions. I'd also go so far as to say the patrollman who wrote you up was a jackass. But then again, this isn't saying much when you are ticketed for not having a front license plate in California when many cars are sold without being prepared to accomodate a front license plate at all...Really, it's not like they are ever chasing you front the front of your car and would need to see your license plate there.

Thus, I digress...

I am absolutely stunned that you would get a ticket for accidentally losing control. It's not like it was malevolent or pre-meditated.

Memo to self: Get chauffered in Colorado to avoid accidents.

Now what did you learn from this? What tires are on the car?(snows?) Do small movements of the wheel. Did you get off the gas? Did you slam on the brakes?(a no-no) Did you have cruise control on?(a no-no,if not on dry or clear pavement) Was DSC active?

Think about it. Figure out what you could have done different to maintain better control. If you ever get into a similar situation(God forbid!), you will react quicker and more properly.
