Looks like the new model A-class Benz, which interestingly enough is available as a coupe now...

Actually looks quite good. Very modern.

The next person that says he/she likes it, will get to:

1: Forfeit their X5 for 3 months
2. Move to Alabama
3. Not be allowed to eat any cajun food for the rest of his/her life
4. Be denied access to good coffee

I'm just concerned that it doesn't look big enough.. I need something to replace my wife's Town & Country! I'm also not in love with the looks, but it is a "minivan" after all.

Chris - I'm also looking for a replacement for my wife's T&C. It's looking right now like it will be an MDX.

Why not? :dunno:

You don't think BMW will sell a TON of these? That's what they said when BMW said they were getting into the SUV market.

Well, I can see where you're coming from...the market IS big for these things and I guess there will be a considerable amount of image conscious soccer moms buying into these, which I don't particularly view as a good OR bad thing. And as you pointed out, this same question popped up when the SUV idea was entertained, and now I can't live without my X. I guess I really didn't think that deeply about it when I first came upon this.

lol... no worries. I just remember what people said when BMW said they'd be entering the SUV market. Many enthusiasts cried "BMW is a performance-oriented car maker. They have no business building an SUV... and so on." Look at us now...! :D

I'm ambivalent, :bustingup ...I don't need a transfer to LA,

aka lower'Bama, though AL is a fine state.

They may sell, if it really looks close to "pic", but not if
the grandmasterteutons price that sumbitch at 60+.
Most Soccer moms and any mom is running outa juice for
$60g cars to haul 2 kids around in,imo.

Front end looks kinda "cab-forward". I thought Chrysler was part of MB? :D
This one will go gold if not platinum in no time. People are dying to have that roundel on the hood of their ride, and young married couples with small kids need something to haul those booger machines around inside of.

LeMansX5 04-25-2005 09:29 PM

Not bad. :idhitit:

I guess I am fortunate enough to be past the Minivan stage of my life, so it has no appeal to me.

It sure looks a lot better than any other MV on the road now.

Careful how you banter around stereotypes there. My wife read this and went ballistic. She loves to drive my Porsche but needs a minivan to cart around the kids + friends. She can't stand the build quality on the Town & Country we have right now and likes the idea of full maintenance. There are a lot of reasons why soccer moms may want a BMW minivan over a different brand, and in our case it has no more to do with image than why you're driving around a BMW SUV (guess that would be for image too).
