Cingular 8125 and Exchange 2003 integration with WM5
 

Hey guys... my turdberry is on it's last leg once again from dropping it a couple of times etc so I'm shopping for a new phone... Does anybody here have a cingular 8125? How do you like it? quirks? functionalities? Stability? How is it as a phone? Also, any exchange admins here? I've heard rumors that Exchange 2003 has the functionality to push emails to WM5 clients/devices now. Can anybody confirm this since as far as I know, it will not have BES integration. TIA!

Currently looking into the same phone. This or the Treo650 (no 700w GSM yet with Cingular).

If you have not held the 8125 (HTC) , it is a little smaller than most PDA Phones, feels cheap and plasticky. The slide out keyboard I am sure is a novelty that will soon wear off. I also had trouble dialing using the screen numeric pads as compared to my existing Treo 600 as I can dial using the keypad without looking (think while driving :) )

Having said that, 8125 is probably the best PDA style Phone that Cingular has in terms of features and functionality. The Treo does feel much solid but the main difference between the 650 and the 8125 is Wifi (don't use that much), slide out keyboard and a low resolution screen on the 8125.

IMO the 8125 is more of a PDA than a phone. Also heard that battery life on the 8125 is not that great and open a few applications and the OS will crawl to almost a stand still (wonders of multitasking). I usually charge the Treo every couple of days with low to moderate use. Treo is a great phone but not that good a PDA. How about waiting for the Moto Q?

I have a 8125 and I love it. The keyboard is awesome and is great in allowing a 'business user' to quickly address e-mail and other applications. Because the phone also comes with .PDF reader, XLS, and Word you can read most attachments with any random e-mail. I have mine setup to receive all my business e-mail and it has worked great.

Mickey is right in that the number pad takes a little getting use to. But once you are familiar with it, it isn't really an issue. You can also download features for the phone such as mapping devices and 'Magic Button' which allows you to see all applications running in a toolbar. Battery life is limited so you should charge it every night to make sure you don't hit any issues.

So far I love my 8125. My partner has a TREO 650 and he likes the smaller design of my phone. As for 'cheap', I don't feel that as compared to a TREO. IMO of course.

what about the voice dialing capabilities? on par with moto? and integration with BMW bluetooth? Thanks!

Compared to my MPX220, the 8125 is much much better. BT integrates perfectly with BMW which is nice over the MPX and voice seems very well done too. Though I am not a huge voice recognition user.

A friend of mine uses an 8125 as a work phone as well and only does voice dialing and such, works perfect for him.

Another good PDA/phone is the i-mate Jasjar. Sort of tablet pc functionality. Flip the screen and it becomes a tablet.

I am told that next version of Exchange, coming out soon is supposed to have same functionality as BES and will be backend server for MotoQ like devices.

I have the 7130e (verizon version of the 7100c from cingular). Great Bberry, I highly recommend it. Bluetooth, speaker phone, smaller than a traditional bberry, rock solid and reliable.
