You guys may want to check out the Nokia 9300 from Cingular. I just picked one up a few weeks ago. I have used Windows Mobile phones for the last couple of years, and this one is so much more stable, and the battery life is much much better. And it works very well as a regular phone with it's flip closed. It doesn't have a touch screen, but it more than makes up for it with a huge keyboard and lots of hot keys for different applications. And if you like to do any kind of web browsing on your phone, the web browsing on this is leagues ahead of Windows Mobile.

why would school kid need a blackberry? you will not be connected to a BES server and blackberry functionalities will not be utilized which negates the whole purpose of such a device. BTW.. the tmobile version of the firmware really sucks.. lots problems with crashing and connectivity

Actually, T-Mobile Blackberrys are very good if you use Yahoo for your email. It provides real push email the same as if you had access to a BES.

True to some extent. But it can still be used as a PDA, BES Server not required. Also IMHO the nextel version (7100i) is much better than T-mobile as it Includes more features.
