BMW V5 specs
The June 2006 issue of Road and Track has some specs and a picture of the BMW V5. It's the same picture posted by LemansX5 from the German magazine website.
Here's a synopsis: It's a 5 door with 3 row seating using 5 series and X5 components. Length is 190 inches, longer than an X5. Base engine is the 3.0 I6 valvetronic engine with 255 HP. The optional engine is a 4.8 V8 with 375 HP. There will be a choice of gearboxes - manual or automatic. Article makes no mention of SMG, nor does it specify if the manual is available with the V8, hopefully it will be. Expected sales: 60,000 per year. Expected competition - the Audi Q7 and Mercedes R-Class. The issue also has a full test of the Z4M roadster and an announcement of a race-ready Z4M coupe (400 HP, 2640 lbs, $300,000). I'm confused - Is the V5 considered part of the E70 line or is there another designation for this vehicle? |
I'd be very surprised at the 60,000 units per year...
the mkting types must be using a crazy 8 ball for sales projections. |
Read that article as well. Still uglier then all hell.
