Per CNET:

HP spruces up its entry-level handheld line with the HP iPaq rx1950 model, a slim and light PDA that doesn't cut corners on performance or battery life, with class-leading results. Armed with the latest Windows Mobile 5 operating system, the rx1950 can be a pocket office on the road but skimps on a few features here and there, most notably Bluetooth. At $300, however, the rx1950 costs half that of high-end business PDAs, so if you're on a budget and you're OK with the lack of Bluetooth, then the HP iPaq rx1950 is a perfectly capable handheld.

Palm Treo 650. They may have upped the rate for new plans to $20 or $25, but they've kept mine at $15 since the start. Kewl

This is what I'm looking at:
http://reviews.cnet.com/HP_iPaq_rx19...?tag=pdtl-list

Most PDAs/Smartphones out are overkill for many users & fall short for the folks that need/ use every feature. That unit should be more than enough for Mom, most likely. If you haven't already comp'd it, this might help. Enjoy.

Thanks for all the help guys. After comparing it with others, based on the requirements and this unit's performance, I snagged it on ebay brand new for $200 shipped.

be warned, bluetooth drains battery life, wifi, not as much, i would say that if she has a evdo bluetooth phone, then get the bluetooth, otherwise, just get something with wifi
