Speakers for my Laptop

I need your help!

I need to get a set of speakers...pretty much like stereo speakers (about a foot tall or so) to plug into my laptop.

What should I get?

Do I need anything special to plug them into my laptop?

Thanks :)

What are you looking to get from the speakers? (meaning, games, music, etc..)

I run a simple set of HK's and they are pretty good for what I need.

Just to play my iTunes very loud!

I run these:

And $8.99 on eBay, even if you hate them...it's no big loss.

I want them for a party on Sunday. They need to be bigger and louder, I think??

This would suit you better. Clear bass, and overall super clear sound from the speakers. LOT of power for 2.1 .

EDIT: this is the one you want: http://cgi.ebay.com/Logitech-Z-2300-...QQcmdZViewItem

If you're not interested in anything portable and something you can use with a desktop after your party need is over, I love my THX Certified Klipsch Pro Medias. I have the 2.1 setup and they sound incredible. They are mucho loud and the sub gives excellent base. They're a little cheaper than they used to be but are still probably around $150. (I got them a few years ago for $80 on clearance :D.) Since you need them quickly, eBay probably won't help you and you can get these at most major tech stores.

They need to be portable...it's for a graduation party on Sunday. The DJ backed out, so they asked me if I could play music. Figured I'd rip my iPod to my laptop and get some speakers. :dunno:

Check out Cambridge Soundworks PC speakers Michelle - they sound incredible although just a bit more costly than most. Definitely work the extra dough IMO - you'll be amazed... They should be pretty much plug n' play on your laptop...
