True story about cops.
listen to this crap. About a week ago I had the M5 out. I was at work and my youngest brother stops by to see me. Know i was closed that day and i have a large parking lot which i own and do not share with anyone so besides us it was empty. So anyway we go to leave. and my bro takes off first and starts do some pretty serious donuts and burnouts right in front of me in his
Dinan 540 sport. So being his big bro i had to show him how its really done in a M5 and i proceed to do more of the same. (By the way i wish i had someone there to video tape this.) So anyway we finish up and about to pull out a cop comes flying in blocking us in and makes us get out of the cars. Flipping out saying we are both getting tickets for reckless driving. So i said reckless driving in my parking lot. The cop says you own this lot. I said yes and as you know its private property so ill be going know and you could move your cruiser. He was F###king pissed off bad. Week later my brother was leaving the same place this had happened gets on the highway around the corner. and bam town cop pulls him over on the highway. Know at no time did he go over the limit anywhere. The cop says do you know what you were doing. He says yea driving home. He said no you were doing 90 in a 65 you i be right back. Anyway he gets a ticket for reckless driving. It was the same cop that was in our parking lot a week earlier. Next day less than 24 hours after the first ticket he gets off the same exit bam gets pulled over by the same cop again. No turn signal and ticket for expired emissions. How f###ked up is that. Needless to say he is not going to be visiting me at work for a while. Now im thinking im next and this cops got a real problem with us after the parking lot incident. So i call my lawyer and he is sending a letter to the chief of police about police harasment and warning them to stop immediately. and he is going to court to fight the tickets. You guys believe this crap. |
That is F*ed up...
you gotta remember, most cops are jerks that didn't make it in life and the only way they can still give crap to people is by being a cop... that said, you should keep burning out in the parking lot... :) He can't do anything about that! |
Quote:
90% of the cops I've run into are outright nazi's when it comes to cars and driving in general. And of course, they don't care if the property is private or not, if you are spinning your wheels, even for a second, it will be up to the cop to decide your fate. |
Quote:
Why don't you call your local phone company and have them block 911 on your phone, considering that cops are so useless to you, they won't be able to help you if there's an emergency in your life now will they? |
Quote:
Was your brother doing 90 in a 65? Did your brother fail to use his signal? Was his emissions tag expired? I bet the answer to all 3 was yes.... so explain to me again how the cop is harrassing your brother. |
haha
|
Yeah I got pulled over in the rover for not having a front license plate braket, which I guess is illegal anyways I looked at the cop stright in the eyes and asked him "don't you have better things to do then pull over people in range rovers?" I mean give me a friggin brake, i just wanted to ask him if hes done anything useful today grrr....... for the record I have a very high respect for police officers and have never encountered a bad one until this one... just my 2 cents, I think some are bad and most are good, I always try to be nice to them
|
Quote:
let's recap: cop pulls you over because you did something illegal. (trivial, yet still illegal, and by the way, the resason LEO's pull people over for license plate violations is because most cars with license plate violations were or are in the process of being stolen and the LEO is attempting to possibly recover a stolen car, but I'm sure he just pulled you over because he was jealous of your Rover... ) you give him shit about having better things to do because you assume he pulled you over because of the type of car you were driving you draw the conclusion that the cop was "a bad one" wtf is wrong with people? |
mmmm
shame u didn't get pulled over by this cop - give the video a few seconds befor the soundtrack starts
http://videos.streetfire.net/categor...E639576A13.htm i wouldn't buy one of these but maybe u should http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Polis...spagenameZWD1V |
so let me get something straight... you and your brother were doing burnouts and donuts (Wreckless driving, Exhibition of speed AND disturbing the peace) , he was speeding (25 over = wreckless driving and speeding).. WTF did the cop do wrong?? IT'S YOU. If I was the cop, every infraction I see, I'll pull you over too.. you're a easy target. If it was like the case that alpine rasta encountered then I would say yeah the cop is an asshole.. in your case, your brother and you are the assholes.

but its his parking lot so he can do w.e he wants no ?

This is true. |
I agree with Gresch and Sanguru on many points. I've actually only had one bad experience with the police where it wasn't my brother's fault at all.
And here it is, and sorry to threadjack.. Well onto the story... All right, so I get off my shift at work at 11:30 p.m. (I work at Days Inn in Hartford for my dad until he finds another employee, which has been over a year. :banghead: ). My brother's friend Mike then suggests we go to a movie, so we get in his car and get back around 2:00 a.m. As we pull into the parking lot, we notice about 4-5 cops. My brother and I tell the cop that we're the owner’s son and ask him what’s going on (2 guys stole a car and ran onto the property and they arrested them). Us being as tired as we were, decided to get home and hit the sack. As I get into my brother's car, I notice a lot of crap on his hood (crack pipe, wallet, weed, cell phone). My brother then asks another cop if he could get the stuff off his hood, so that we can go home. He did so, and we went inside to chat with the employee that was there that night. After about 15 minutes everyone left except the cop that took the stuff off our hood. We get out of the office and checked the hood before we left, turns out there are about 15 little scratches and 4 dents in the hood (scratches are probably from his finger nails, and the dents from his palm). My brother goes up to the cop and ask him what had happened to his car. He then tells us that he had to “throw” the guy on his car to put the cuffs on him. My brother then gets upset and asks the officer for his badge number and name so he can file a claim, he then tells him to “get over himself” and then walks away, gets into his car, and leaves. My brother quickly writes down his license plate number and looks at me, at this point we're both thinking :wtf:? We call the cops again, and then go inside and take a look at the surveillance camera. On it, we saw the cop that told us to “get over ourselves” throw the guy onto my brother's car, which I thought was totally unnecessary. He wasn’t struggling to get away or anything, or resisting arrest. He was standing there calmly, and then you see the cop throw him against my car. After about 30 minutes another police officer comes, and we tell him what happened. He then stands there for 45 minutes giving us reasons not to file a claim. He also said that he could try to get the cop to apologize to my brother. My brother told him that he never wants to see him again on our property. Oh and we had the cop walking away from us on camera too. And this happened last January, and my brother recieved his payment from the cops insurance last week. |
thats so stupid You were pissed like I was at my waste of a ticket :)
|
I wasn't there so I cannot jump in to the conclusion. Didn't the guy say that his brother wasn't speeding at all?
It is never a good idea pissing someone off especially cops. Either the cop thought that you guys were the hazard who need to be taught a lesson, or took it personal. I worked with cops, I know they will make you sweat for many reasons. If the charge was falsified, the cops should lose his badge. If the cops is taking things personal, it would be unprofessional in my opinion. However, still very legal. Personally, a traffic citation trial is pending in two weeks, a speeding ticket, at least the cop was courteous and explained me why I was pulled over and what my options are. I was not happy, didn't agree with him on the fact and how he got me on the speed trap. However, it is just that he was doing his job, and I am doing my job trying to expunge it off my record. On my previous ticket the cop was total asshole, wasn't sure what he was doing, got snapped at me because I asked him why I was pulled over, and worse off at the traffic court he bs'ed some facts in order to win. Often times life isn't just fair better move on. There are asshole cops out there, and yet we are better off having them in most of cases. Don't you agree? |

i've also ran into a cop who was just way out of line. In my local town i've gone out of my way to meet almost all the city traffic cops and state troopers, either at work, or coaching their kids, or thru social activities, or at the gym , and i've made sure that i left a very nice impression. Sometimes u just have to live u're life this way to make sure if u find u'reself in a sticky situation that u have some options..
I wonder if they get to focused on exercising their authority without also exercising the appropriate amount of discretion and responsibility along with it. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,187750,00.html |

2.there was no turn to use a signal. He got off the highway was driving the cop was in a commuter lot next to the off ramp. Pulled out behind him and gave him a ticket for not signal when he never turned anywhere. 3.CT has a new law we dont have emissions stickers anymore. You only have to go after your car has reached 4 years old after first date of registration. He has no way to tell if his emissions were expired unless he ran his plate and specifically checked for that violation. The car was 4 years and a couple weeks old. Anyway when your car turns 4 years old you are supposed to get a letter from the DMV andhe never did. Also that is 3 tickets in less than 24hours from the same cop. Are you really trying to tell me that is normal. or this cop doesnt have a problem? My brother also by the way has a perfect driving record not one ticket on it. And this cop is f###king him because he is pissed off for some reason. Give me a break Gresh |

My bro was not doing 25 over he was doing the speed limit. # 2 i own a building where i manufacture stuff that has a parking lot that i own and only employees and my trucks can use. It was closed that day. The parking lot was empty. Its my building my lot. By the way the lot is about 6 acres large. Its fenced in with a gate. The gate was only open because my brother left it open when he pulled in. Yes we were smokin the shit out of the tires. Cop happens to be driving by. Pulls in gets us out of our cars and trys to get us for reckless driving. I explain to him im the owner. And to leave because its private property he leaves pissed of. Next day same cop pulls over my brother twice and gives hime 3 tickets in less than 24hours. for shit he made up. The only real infraction was the emmission violation which he can only find out if he runs the plate and links into DMV records specifically dor that. And your saying my bro and i are out of line. By the way both of us have clean driving records. and we are the assholes. I think you and the cop are the assholes. Honestly i hope you run into a cop like this because you wont understand until you do. No one os above the law including cops and this guy obviously thinks he is which is why i already have my lawyer working on this. He called the chief of police already and he said he will look into it and get back to us tuesday about it. |

Stupid stuff like that. Yet when idiots from my high school are drunk driving or partying hard they are no where to be found... The cops in my town waste their time on stupid priorities. I don't have anything against cops in general, but the cops in my town, and the cop that dinanm3 encountered aren't the best of the breed. Besides when I call 911, the firemen are the first to show at the scene anyway... Quote:
I'd have a hard time justifying as a cop that the majority of the cars on the road are 'stolen' at any given time... |
Thank you, finally someone knows what their talking about, neither My RR or X5 even came with brackets! This cop obviously was wasting tax payer dollers with his time!

Cops don't get paid to enforce HIS/HER PERSONAL AGENDA. Pls read the post before making judgement.
Thanks for clarifying. I hope you could get him off your back soon. I bad it would be for the people who doesn't have your knowledge and resources. |

Actually, I lived in Hermosa Beach for 3 years and San Francisco for 6 months so yes, I do know about how cars are delivered in CA. My uncle was also a copy in berkley for over 20 years and chief of police in Sea Side for another 2. I don't know what part of CA you live in, but there's no way in hell that 80% of cars in CA don't have plates, and EVERy car when registered gets 2 plates. I've lived there, I work there 2 weeks out of every 3 months and I have family in SD and SF.... Also, I'm born and bred Long Islander, Nassau county to be specific. Look up on the internet which 2 counties have the highest paid Law Enforcement divisions and you'll see that it's Nassau and Suffolk Counties in NY. thanks for your observations, but you're completely wrong. |

I don't want to get into an argument with you. You were there, I wasn't , I'll have to take your word for it. (I will however ask you if you were respectful or a wise ass to the cop when he entered your parking lot.... how was he to know if you were the owner or not? what if he found 2 people ripping up your parking lot and got them off your property? you'ld be pretty happy huh? ) HOWEVER, I do take exception to the negative generalizations and assumptions about LEO's that occur on a daily basis by the general public. (it burns me up even more when they then hypocritically scream for help from their local LEO's when something happens to them.) Many times people complain about being treated badly by a cop, it later comes out that the person was disrespectful to the cop and they swear that they were doing NOTHING wrong... I'll tell you a few things about the cops that I know.... 1) They couldn't care less about harrassing anyone with numerous tickets, it just creates paperwork and court time for them and could put their job in jeaporday. Sure there are bad apples out there, but they are FAR outnumbered by the good guys. 2) More than not, whenever someone has a problem with a cop for whatever reason, the complaints get generalized into statements that ALL cops are dbags, well, they're not, a vast majority of cops are good, hard working people and don't deserve the negative generalizations. If someone made negative generalizations about a race of people or members of a religion, everyone would be screaming "racism" or something similar.... think seinfeld and the "anti-dentite" episode :) :) 3) I've gotten my fair share of tix, and you know what, i was just as mad as the next guy, but you know what? once the anger wears off I realized I deserved every ticket I've ever received, in fact I probably should have gotten a lot more than I ever received, so i'm ahead of the game. Unfortunatley, people need to shelve the misplaced anger bullshit immature mind games that they play with themselves and realize that it's more probable than not, and yes ther are exceptions, that they deserved whatever tix they've received in their lives. I've pontificated enough... have a good rest of the weekend. |

So no, the cop was NOT obviously wasting tax payers dollars. |
LOL... it's cuz you got East Los Altos... If any town has a ghetto like that, you would have a ton of cops too.. Seriously though, the road to downtown is residential (kinda) and hence the crack down.

Too bad you don't live in California, if you pulled that crap like where ever it is you live here in CA, your shit would be towed!!!!! Under 23103(b) CVC it's a Misd. even if you own the parking lot!!! And that means if you don't kiss his A$$, your shit is towed and the County Jail with the booty bandit is close by!!!! Anyways don't blame the cop because for doing his job plus it sounds like you were tryin to provoke him from the get go...I own this lot. SOUNDS LIKE YOU DONE! Oh by the way that letter to the Police Chief from the attorney, it will probably end up in the trash can. A cop can follow you any where he wants and when he wants, when he catches you breakin the law, your toast. If I were you I would find him off duty, buy him a beer and kiss his a$$. You'll lose this battle and remember he has friends that wears the badge too!!

What exactly does "SOUNDS LIKE YOU DONE" mean? And luckily i dont live in California because it sounds like you guys think you are above the law from the way you are talking. what do you think this is the wild west? I am always respectful to everyone including police officers. But i dont kiss anyones ass ever, period. And yes a cop can follow you but he cant pull you over for something you didnt do and fabricate a charge. You actually have to break the law in order to get pulled over in CT. and no i wont buy him shit if i see him off duty and i want be an asshole to him either. He deserves nothing from me. We will see about my attorneys letter which will be followed up with a phone call the same day. For some reason i dought it will be thrown away. Especially if i demand action. its not as easy as you say for the police chief to brush this off. He will have to respond in some way especially if im willing to file a lawsuit which i am. And as far as me being disrespectful by saying that i own this lot. What was i supposed to say when i do actually own it. Should i have told him im tresspassing and to arrest me. By the way have you ever heard of harrassment in CA. Or is that law not on the books there. Im not trying to say anything bad about law enforcement offivers in general. this is my personal experience with one cop that i think happens to have a problem and is most likely a shitty cop. Thats it nothing less nothing more. I will be sure to keep everyone posted on what happens tuesday. Who knows where its gonna go. but i just want some answers. By the way i also found out that by law a town officer can pull someone over on a state highway in CT. But can only hold the person there and call in statetroopers and hand it over to them. So the ticket he got on the highway will definately be thrown out. Now i just got to deal with the fact that he got a ticket for no turnsignal when he wasnt turning anywhere. this cop is nuts. |

It has been my experience when dealing with members of the public, that you deal with what you are confronted by. We call it, 'THE ATTITUDE TEST' When I was in a situation where I had discretion (ie minor matter) then the attitude of the offender would in all likelihood dictate the outcome. I have found over the years that officers do not like to talk to members of the public off duty about their job as they only ever get told about the facts supporting the complainant. In this instance, an officer has seen someone performing burnouts on private property. He has a duty to intervene on behalf of the owner and community. Instead of identifying that it was your own property and thanking the officer for doing his job, accepting the fact that you were disturbing the peace and having a general chat about it, you appear to have been extremely arrogant by ordering the officer off your property. Whilst you are quite within your rights to do so, I have to ask if it was really necessary, or even reasonable for you to take that attitude? You have made a situation where an officer was doing his job into a pi:?%ing contest and neither of you are going to win. I am sure you will deny/justify your position (we as humans ALWAYS justify our actions) but I cannot believe that any reasonable person just starts a war for no reason........
|
Here's what you wrote and you tell us that you are always respectful to law enforcement? "The cop says you own this lot. I said yes and as you know its private property so ill be going know and you could move your cruiser. He was F###king pissed off bad." Yep that sounds like you showed him respect. Well I see it this way, if you live in some town that has maybe 10 cops well then maybe you'll deal with a Police Chief that is afraid of his own shadow and that big bad letter and a phone call from that attorney will do you right. I doubt it, but they do things back east a little different than out here in CA. If that incident occurred in CA. Your letter would be rolled up into a ball and would become the office's trash basket ball and your attorney's phone call would be played back over and over again. The reason, the Police Chief would probably think that someone is playing a practical joke and he would want to find out who it is to get even. Hey at least someone is going to get paid in the end and he's the smartest guy in your whole story. THE ATTORNEY. ONE LETTER $100.00 A PHONE CALL $200.00. He'll probably thank that cop for this whole thing.

great forum for what?? cop bashing?? What Dinanm3 did was considered Sideshow which we all know in CA is a Misdemeanor. Whether the following activities that followed is perceived or is actually as his brother said, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But if you do the same shit in Los Altos, Irvine or ANYWHERE in CA even on private property, you're getting your car impounded and will be hauled off to jail. That the fact. What I don't understand is what the whole point of doing donuts and burnouts? it does NOTHING. It shows that you got more $$ than sense.. can you say bye bye to your diff?? Highly suggest to those with the electronic diff on the E46 m3's and E60 M5 don't try it at hope without destroy it.

tyson is a cop and this is how he communicates - tyson quote
"Hey Soccer Boy, I saw that license plate frame you thought was cool and suggested someone should buy and put on their car. I've had terrible experiences with cops, but I also know one personally, and he is a really decent guy. IMO, cops are up against an increasingly un-civil society, and almost all of their interaction with the tax-paying law-abiding public, is negative. Cops are lousy at PR, and far too many are pumped up on steroids and Wyatt Earp attitudes. We have a vicious circle--a society becoming rife with scum and perpetually bailed-out criminals, coupled with burned out cops with attitudes.
The original poster and the cop had a bad interaction--a cop with a heart full of adenaline thinking he had possible found a couple of joyriding crackheads enjoying the fruits of a B&E, and a private property owner (who has the gift of candor) who thought he was minding his own business. To be fair, the cop likely blocked the gates trying to prevent a grand theft getaway. Had he had an attitude after a calm and voluntary offering of registration, insurance, ID, and DMV check, then I too, as a private property owner, would have stood my ground. The fact that cops feel the public needs to treat them with some sort of elevated respect is profoundly wrong--cops are public servants, not some elite brotherhood, and we the public, are in no way out of line in the defense of our civil rights. If a cop is in law enforcement because of a personal need to feel empowered by a gun and a badge, or they become that way, they need to be removed...a cop who embarks on a vendetta of harrassment and selective enforcement is nothing more than a thug with a badge. On the other hand, if we as a society, refuse to support legislation to get a lot of the lawbreaking scum off the streets, and we demoralize law enforcement by overwhelming them, neither law enforcement, nor civil society will be well served. |
Well Soccer Boy, your concerned about the way I communicate? Well let's see, if I remember right your the one posting links to various videos that disrespect the cops and links to pictures of "F*%K the Cops" license plates. Thats is the difference between you and I. You see when a gang members or some idiot on dope with a gun goes crazy, your dumb A$$ will be hiding behind some table, peeing on the floor like a 12 year old girl hoping the police come to save your diaper needing A$$. So I see it like this, the next time the shit hits the fan and you need a cop, handle it yourself, then post it on the web site so you can prove everyone that you don't need us and then you can talk shit all day long about cops and how bad they really are. I got a gut feeling though that will never happen. Now get back to work so you can pay my salary, Soccer Girl.

If you are policaman. Surely you are not allowed to speak to a member of the general public in the above manner. Do your employers know this is how you conduct yourself.?? I am from the UK and I can tell you it gives me no pleasure reading your un savoury posts. Is this accepted the words and way you talk in the USA cause I can assure it is not over here. :) |

LOL...now thats just wrong....i am sensing a tension growing throughout this forum =x
guys...some cops are a$$ holes...some arent...their humans too...just with guns...and badges...and friends with guns and badges |
Dinan- I know how you must have been feeling. Few people want to be told what to do/persecuted on their own property, it'd rile me up too. As others have said, the PO was probably doing what he was trained to do: react to suspicious activity. I'd rather have a PO who erred on the side of suspicion than one who ignored someone doing burnouts in a parking lot. He was probably more looking out for your business (which at the time he didn't realize was your lot and building) than bored and looking for some heads to crack. He might well be pissed about your reaction and attitude towards him, and may indeed be acting in a vengeful way to you and your brother, but if you break the law, he has every right to write you a violation. The detriment would be if he's spending an improper amount of time waiting for one of you guys to screw up when he should be looking for violations and crime elsewhere.
You could avoid this situation by getting familiar with the local PO's (as a business owner that's a great idea and a great asset), and let them know that you'd be using your lot for some fun behind the wheel. Kinda like throwing a party and inviting the neighbors so no one complains about the noise:thumbup: You might have to man up and apologize to the PO for the way you handled things to simmer it down. Good luck with it, man. JV |
anywayzzz...moving onnn..lets analyze this a little here .as for the original thread starter...DINANM3...sorry you had to encounter this situation, perhaps the cop was dissapointed about the way you handled him because you werent breaking the law....but you have to understnad...the cop had a badge on that said "police"...you did not have a badge on that said "owner"...when a cop pulls someone over...they dont know whether or not that person will run out on them with a gun or somethin...in this business you expect anything from people.
maybe the cops method on his first approach may have been out of line...i dunno you did'nt describe if he pulled you outta your car and held you up on gun point, but...a cop is defineately someone you want to be friends with. you would certainly want them to report to your property if a set of houligans were doing what you were doing...i been through alot growing up..and i realized...if you cant beat'm..join'm...so i joined the auxillary police department...yes thats right ...imma rent-a-cop. and i have encountered my share of jerks...they could be how they want to be...as soon as i flash my badge we're best of friends...because they know im of no harm...and i do their job fror free, he was problably more afraid of you than you were of him. as for the tough guy attitude...unneccessary whoever had the attitude....totally agreed, but try doing their job...one goof up and the whole world hears about it, he thought he was doing his job...and he left...but it seems like you started it so far..sorry to say bro....if he wanted to, he could of hauled ur asses off your "private property" and be a REAL JERK....but he left, and when you leave your private property...you're "on his property" sort of speak....yes they serve the community, but what about the many that lost their lives in the line of duty, ...doesnt that give them some sort of benefit since they put their life on the line? we say theyre not above the law...or not suppose to be...but common...how many times have you got a cop to do pushups in front of you? realistically... alot of people made some good points, thats the benefit of a forum...you can analyze this from many point of views. a civilian, cops, cops families, and auxilliary officers (cops - but -not cops) i know one thing for sure...if you were friends with him, and he gave you a pba card or somethin....you would get a somewhat better treatment than the many who dont have a relationship with a cop....hope to see u at the tristate meet...we'll have a ball talking more about this. "TAKE A BITE OUTTA CRIME!" 1) kids...no fighthing 2) cops -lets try to maintain our positive image, there are people watching us from around the world 3) civilians - stop getting pulled over, and you wont get pulled over. 4)lawyers - you guys must love the business, im sure your lawyer has a few friends that are cops...after all.."they are for the law" hence= lawyers 5) "Tyson?"...now i wonder how you got a name like that ;) |
and so ends this chapter of the lounge.............
cheers! |
