Ethnic Food
Ok So I really am on this kick to try new food, I am a health nut so no cream sauces or deep friend anything, must be low-fat
so far I love Indian food because you can get steamed veggies in an awesome but non-fatty sauce anyone have suggestions on different food groups and what do order? |
I'm a big fan of Thai food. It's kind of like a cross between Chinese and Indian (which makes sense considering Thailand's location)
|
Yeah everyone here in san diego, loves Thai but its too spicy for me, I don't really enjoy spice
|
Thai is good. How about Japanese food? Sushi is the bomb but there are cooked items that are good.
|
yeah I love sushi, i've always like it, we have tons of sushi places here
|
That was ok can we talk about cars or the war now.
|
lol no I haven't gotten any new suggestions!
|
Problem is that we live in gobal world now and we have been exposed to types oft food, nothing really new.
That said I was at a rubber chicken lunch and some guy from the south did not know what broccoli rob was, bet he voted for Bush. |
I wish I could focus on eating more healthy food - I just love all the stuff that's bad for you and can barely choke down the healthy stuff. Gimme a cheese steak with extra cheese any day over sushi. I don't know how you health-nuts do it. Although, I did have baked haddock with my kids last night - that's a huge step in the right direction for me - even though I dipped each fork-full in drawn butter. At least it wasn't a piece of fatty steak I was dipping...
|
This thread is making or better yet has made me hungry!
|
haha I lost 100lbs on weight watchers, I used to ONLY eat normal american crap food, but I taught myself to light healthy food and now its what I prefer
|
Eat right is important, try to eat smart so iIcan have a nice big steak now then. I will not order french fry's but will steal a few from my friends plate. I eat bacon twice a year, taste good but really bad for you.
Wonder how many members know what broccoli rob is? |

My wife is very health conscious and it has been good for me. We're forever reading the ingredients on food packaging and trying to avoid too many artificial ingredients and hydrogenated fats. There's a bunch of other no-no stuff but I let the wife take care of that. ;) |

I will scan pics tomorrow and post I don't have a scanner at home, but when you lose 100lbs your skin looses its elasticity, so on my tummy, sides, thighs and back I have fat pockets and loose skin, so i'm extremely self consious about them, so I'm having it all removed, its kinda a little "you did it and you deserve it" present from my mom and dad

Have you tried Vietnamese food? Very similar to Thai, but less heavy on the sauces, generally lighter ingredients, IMO.
Cuban food is one of my favs, of course I grew up on the stuff. I would think you could find some in SD. Living in New England, I too love seafood, including lobster, shrimp, fish, etc. But I don't like it in the traditional "boil it 'till it's dead and drown it in butter" style. I'd much rather have that lobstah as a fra' diavolo.... |

Middle Eastern and Greek foods are gonna be among the healthiest out there- lots of it is grilled and not a lot of cream or butter, but plenty of olive oil and lean cuts of meat and seafood.
I know there's a market in SD that sells great middle eastern/mediterranean foods, Kearny Mesa I think. JV |
Did you know that in China, Chinese Food is just referred to as "food"? :)

Have you ever tried Ethiopian? Awesome bean or lentle (sp) based meals. Or try Napal food. Both are awesome and full of flavorful spice.
|
I've tried Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican, Korean, Persian and Hmong women so far... and their foods aswell.

BTW, broccoli rabe is also known as Choy Sum in China (in Cantonese anyway, I have no idea what it is in Mandarin) To the Chinese it's a rather unremarkable and plain ingredient but popular none the less regardless of political affiliation. |

Hibachi is not completely wrong either. It originally refers to small charcoal heating device imported from China in olden days. (Most likely Japanese will claim it is their invention.) Yes, it is mother of indoor grill top cooking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibachi I have not mounted (or be mounted by) all the different ethnic women. Even if I did I won't be bragging about it. However, I have tried food from many different continents that is legal and nowadays I tend to resort to Japnese cusine for it's simplicity and availability despite the fact that it is several times more expensive than American fast food counter part. The added benefit will be it won't give you Herpes few weeks later unlike unidentified eithnic woman.Another point here is that diversity is wonderful! ;) |
we have benihana here

If you're attempting to imitate me, I don't just post questions. Keep trying. The Partridge Family were neither partridiges nor a family. Discuss. |
Ah ha, I believe someone is hiding among the Rabe. I wonder who it could be?
