BMW K 1200 S motorcycle

Has anyone checked one of these out yet. Its got 167hp. and i like the way it looks. It also has electronic susp adj and ABS brakes. ITs 17k fully loaded. Im in the market for a new bike but havent got one yet because im not sure what i want. But this bike really got my attention. I have to find a dealer that sells them and go check one out. Im also considering the Zx 12 and hyabusa 1300. Not sure yet which one to get.

Drex has one. Pretty fast bike and lots of gizmos but HEAVY. BTW, ZX12R's is EOL'ed as I had said earlier and replaced by the ugly ass ZX14 (read FAST AS HELL)... Busa's are a little yesteryear .. skip it as even the GSXR1000's are almost as fast. If you looking for flat out HP or torque? For torque.. there is nothing like v twins ie Honda RC51's and Ducati 999S or R's. Sometimes, it's not all about the HP as even some 600's will give you a good kick in the pants like the ~140hp R6 (600cc)

My mistake i meant the ZX14. and i agree the busa is long in the tooth. I really like the ZX14 and almost had my heart set on it until i saw this K1200.
I really like it alot and also like all the cool tech on it. Plus the BMW bike is very rare. I would say even rarer than a ducatti. I like the ducattis but not my style, I like the 4 cylinder bikes. By the way what is the hp number on the ZX 14. I forgot. So Drex how do you like your K 1200?

officially 180hp for the ZX14. Cant really say BMW bikes are rare.. there are a ton of them here..

Really. Im in CT and ive seen a handful my entire life. Extremely rare. Only one dealership in the state sells them and its like an hour away from me. I see alot of Jap bikes and harleys especially overhere. And every once in a while i see a ducatti. No one here is really into BMW bikes alot of people i know dont even know BMW makes a bike. You tell them and there shocked.

they are rare for sure. I have seen very few on I84. The dealer in Tarrytown, NY is busy in the area.

Top of Bear Mtn, in Harriman State Park on the way to West Point: one can see a surprisingly high number/percentage of top shelf BMW sleds on any Sunday morning...

I agree with SanGuru: it's heavy and fairly complex; I do have a good Bud in NH that has one, along with his '76 orig Shovel, but he is not yet smitten. I suspect his age, 52, and lack of riding time on UJMs or that sleek Beemer is the culprit. He paid 17gs, too...they are a bit pricey.

If dough is a prob., one can shave $6-7k and get something that will put your eyeballs in the back of your head, but diff'n strokes.

BMW bikes are definitely NOT rare. Heck...even cops here in Newport Beach, CA are rolling on Beemers.

Wow i guess things are a little different on the west coast. In Ct you will see a 100K dollar custom harley anyware and ducattis too. But your not gonna see a Beamer.

SANguru 06-10-2006 08:19 PM

ditto.. CHP in Norcal use K1200GT's.
