Lioness kills visitor at Kiev zoo

A lioness at Kiev's zoo has killed a man who climbed into her enclosure.

A Ukrainian of Azerbaijani origin lowered himself into the enclosure using a rope. He was quoted as saying God would save him.

One of four lions in the enclosure seized the 45-year-old by the throat, and he died at the scene.

The zoo - which keeps the lions on an "island" protected by concrete blocks - was packed with visitors at the time of the attack on Sunday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," a zoo official told Reuters news agency.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

Call me a moron, but was the intent to suggest that maybe it's not a good idea to test whether King Darius' lions were already full before being offered the Daniel Blue Plate Special?

Daniel 6:1-28

16: Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

Here's a funny joke I heard a comedian tell a few years back....

There is a terrible flood in Poland. People are forced to go to higher elevation. Eventually, those who have not evacuated the area are now stranded on the roofs of their houses.

Boats are going around picking the last people up, but there are not enough boats. So one boat stops at the house of the local neighborhood rabbi. The driver of the boat tells the Rabbi to get in, but the rabbi tells him to go on and save other people. He says "don't worry about me, I am a holy man and God will protect me".

Several hours later, now the water is up to the Rabbi's waist, and another boat comes by. The driver of the boat tells the Rabbi to get in, but again he tells them to go on and save other people. He says "don't worry about me, God will protect me".

And God responds "Hey schmuck, I sent 3 boats to get you and you refused to get on any of them!" :rofl:


I don't know why, but the story you posted reminded me of this joke.
