rant...
Ok.. so the M5 left me stranded today in 98 degree heat. We were in downtown Danville for lunch and was about to leave to head home because it was pretty damn hot today. Jumped in the car, started it up, put into reverse, car dies... WTF? ok no problem.. my driving skills are not that bad. So did it again, car cranks, starts, and dies again. Check batteries, lights.. that's not it.. it cranks and starts. Pop the hood checked the hoses, everything is intact and couldn't see hoses popped off or whatever. Pop open the fuel door, pull the cap off.. crap.. no pressure. 60K miles.. fuel pump died.
I called East Bay BMW and Alan E. and Jim B. and the guys hooked me up and sent a tech and another SA to help me out and also drop off my wife at home. (If you guys go to East bay BMW, Billy aka Willy Junior is the man). they called roadside assistance for me and had the car towed to the dealer about 12 miles away. Scary cause the car almost didn't clear for the flatbed because it was too low. Almost scraped my exhaust too. Well anyways, the fellas there hooked me up big time with a 750li loaner... Very nice car and the 4.8l motor makes a world of a difference as compared to the 745's I've driven... Another funny thing, while waiting for the flatbed.. thought crossed my mind that it's only 12 miles from home and I can actually run and get home in an 1:50mins.. haha.. oh the stupid mind of a triathalon training victim. |
Nice service on a Saturday, Josh:thumbup:
My dealer would NEVER be so kind! JV |
The guys will definitely be getting a couple of bottles of wine from me. ;)

Yeah last night I was pissed because the drivers window on our 325i (moms car) would not go out at all!

hmm.. I thought as of the the facelift, they do? the night vision option is pretty cool. The sales guys were all like "we got another M6 sitting here with your name on it, look.. all I have to do is open microsoft word and type it and print it out!"

Sorry to hear about this. But changing fuel pumps at 60k miles is par for the course, I think. But I just hate to get stranded. It's happened to me a few times in Beemers. Glad to hear that you got a nice loaner. My SF dealer would have just called a cab for me

ahh.. ok.. good to know.. I'm still slamming the doors..
BTW talking about cool cars, heading out for a drive with my neighbor's "new" car. He just picked up an ultra exotic Aston Martin DBAR1. Looks damn ugly with the fat fish lip grill but the V12 sounds mean. Quote:

yup.. car 75 of 99 produced. 6spd...435hp... Very interesting car.. you just sink into the seats and it's extremely plush... the no roof thing would bug the crap out of me.. I told him.. you pay $300K for a car, I at least want a top! he laughed at me and called me a car snob. Just came back from the drive and let me tell you, the cliche "pulls like a train" is exact how you would describe it. Very smooth...

My neighbor two doors down has the 2006 Black Aston Martin V8 Vantage, I think it is a cheaper version. Next door has a 2006 White Cheyene Turbo. It breaks my heart watching the both of them streetparked all day under the hot California Sun and Heat. I wish to call 'Nice Car Protection Agency' and report a crime. Exibitionists perhaps. Too bad not many passers-by in this gated community.
By the way sorry to hear about your car, Guru-San. |
J,
Bum deal, but at least you got exc service from an accomodating dlr... if that had been me, here, I would be just getting home from my long walk about now. Exc diagnosis on the gonzo fuel pump, too! GL,mD |
J - bummer situation, but great service from your dealer... good luck with the repairs.
|
I think it's a conspiracy.
We know there are certain things that will fail on Bimmers. Fuel pumps, window regulators, water pumps, radiators. I had alot of Bimmers, so I've experienced all of these failures, some multiple times. And it always happens when I'm on the road, never at home. It's weird. :dunno: |

Sounds like your dealer is top shelf all the way, so you can't get too pissed...things worked out.
