In NYC, you have to hit the Carnegie Deli on 7th and 55th. Share sanwiches, pay the plate fee, and save room for cheesecake. I prefer it to the Stage Deli a block away, but that is personal preference.

Your kids might enjoy going to Carmines for Italian in Times Square. The food isn't the greatest, but the atmosphere is ok, and the family style, mass quantities are excellent. If you want good Italian, don't go there. It's more for the experience than for the food.

I am running out to now but will have more later.

Love Patsy's, but it's not family friendly and way too expensive for a family outing. (it's more of a date place)

everything else is dead on.

I included patsy's since he said that $$$ didn't matter, and his kids aren't small- the youngest is 9.

Gosh, thanks. Looks like I am going to be eating all day and come back 20 pounds heavier :) Love the choices though, keep them coming! Thanks.

If you guys are staying in Alexandria and you have kids- check out the Fish Market in Old Town. Historic building, and pretty good seafood with a kids menu. Ask to be seated upstairs on a weekend night and the kids can sing along while the old guy plays piano.

Find out exactly where in Alexandria you're staying and I can help you some more. It's my town.

My wife said we are staying close to King Street Metro. Does that help? I have no idea where and what type of area that is. I just show up!
