Aruba is good choice. Stay away from Phutek. That is in tsunami belt and there was one today in Indonesia.

Tijanaw,
The only prob with the A,B,Cs or T&T, et al, is the time of year: hot. And, the A,B,Cs only serve up "x" amount of stuff to do, if you aren't diving every day. After a couple days on the very hot beaches of A or C, and a jeep ride, the stuff to do list gets pretty thin, imo. I have same prob with that August date deal as it's theCEO's big Five Oh...but, we don't need to go to a golf getaway or... and sweat bullets. And, hard core dive trips are too risky in the Caribbean that time. Hard to really offer a "this is the spot" for mid August... Maybe New Zealand?! Or, Iceland?! I gotta make it to both before I'm off to Vahalla. GL on your pick. BR,mD |
Acella4.4: The canaries would have been great if we weren't there a year 1/2 ago, my best friend lives in Tenerife Sur. I'vE been thinking about travel insurance but the bottom line is most policies won't reimburse you unless it's a cat 1 hurricane. Not a tropical storm and from experience I know tropical storms can do a lot of damages and cetainly not beach weather.
U're right about Fijii, with the jetlag, we would be sleeping for at least day each way. Let me know about Cabo once you get the report. LV Girl: St martin sound great but I'll have ot go by myself b/c she will never come as long as we're in the HB. LAURA: Yes Aruba is outside the HB but it's just not green at all, the sightseeings outside the hotels aren't great. I want to thank eveyone for chiming in, really it's great to have y'al:thumbup: l. I'm just sooo tired of reading and researching that's i'm just going to get up, book something and hope for the best. Thanks again. |

How about Barbados? Yes, I am being a little bias because that's my home land, but really and truly it is a nice place to vacation. The beaches are nice, the accomadations are plentiful and the nite life is great. Most hurricanes tends to by-pass Barbados because of the far eastern location.

Tijan- I wish Jen wasn't so anti-hurricane. I could give you some great places to check out in Belize, the Bahamas and Mexico. Marta and I are going to Cancun this weekend to celebrate our *official* engagement, but with travel insurance, there's no worries about a hurricane.
Have you thought about the Greek Isles at all? Once you get to one of the Aegean isles, the others are within easy ferry/small plane ride. I've stayed here twice and loved it: LINK Never stayed here, but heard rave reviews from a friend who has IMHO flying all the way to the Pacific from where you and I live is a PITA. In any case, if you decide to consider something in the Bahamas, Mexico or Belize, I'll give you some links to some places... $$$ but worth it in Belize Good friend went on his honeymoon here My favorite place in the Bahamas. Where we stay in Cancun. JV |

What about Bermuda anyody? Easy trip from the US, way north of the hurricaines, shopping, nightlife, and moderate temps? Too snoozy? |

The staff was incredibly professional. With lots of alcohol, look to drop about $6K for a week with airfare. |
Turtle Islands in Fiji from what i've heard no place can compare
