About to go POSTAL....
Alright, here's the situation. I'm forced to park the X on a public street in Los Angeles that requires you have a permit, posted and paid for, to park overnight on my street. It seems Ms. Overegregious Ticketwriter Bitch has it in for me: for the fourth time in 3 months, she has ticketed me for parking without a permit.
Here's the rub: Windows are tinted on the X, and, granted, it can be difficult to see the permit that hangs from the rear-view mirror--Instructions on the permit itself state "To be hung from rear-view mirror, or placed on the lower left portion of the rear bumper." Well, from my understanding, this is an 'either/or situation'...I can either post it or stick it to my bumper--2 choices. Not liking any adornment, much less a large yellow sticker with 1.5" numbers on it, I choose to hang it from the mirror. Now Ms. Overegregious Ticketwriter Bitch, equipped with a high powered light attached to her car, is able to pan that light directly toward the rear view mirror to shine on a hologram box that reacts to the light...but she doesn't use it.. Instead, she chooses to peer from her car--if she doesn't see a pass, she electronically prints the ticket. In essence, she is not using the tools given her to do her job. In LA, you can now only argue/contest ONE ticket per year. Win or loose the contest, you cannot appeal any other ticket you receive after that contest, for the next 12 months. The first ticket, I argued and won. 2 and 3, I reluctantly paid. I'm at my wits end. I don't want to put a sticker on my ride. This bitch knows I live here, knows my car, and continues to ticket me. Tonight, when I confronted her and opened the door to show her the pass, she said "...It needs to be posted so I can see it..." WTF?? Use the tools you are given to do your job! I wanted to assault her--she got me so angry, but the old man inside my head me held me back. When she sped off then turned around to get the other side of the street, I wanted to ask her why she didn't use the light she was given to assist her in doing her job--attempting to flag her down and assuming she was going to stop, I stepped closer to her path--She gunned her vehicle and just missed running over both feet, which, If you know me, have been a bit delicate since my accident last summer. This woman has me livid. Any ideas on how I should handle this, given the constraints? No irrational/vengence ideas, I'm just after some fairness. TIA, Marko |
Write a letter to the mayors office. Be kind. In fact write several letters and make sure you include a picture with each one.

...Pic of the pass?...I know I have a pass, the City knows I have a pass....?

Those you write wont know. So it will be a picture demonstration of where it is always located so that anyone can see.

How can you guys stand living anywhere where you would have to put up with that crap? :dunno: All day I park my X anywhere on the road around the lake I want & nobody could care less. I even leave the keys in it all day while it's on the road in front of my house. Sure my nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away but he doesn't care! :2thumbs: The only stress I deal with out here in the wilderness is when the wolves howl too close to my bedroom window and wake me up at night! Wouldn't the stress of dealing with traffic, bitchy cops, noise, pollution, crime, violence, gangs, etc shorten your life? If so, why would anyone CHOOSE to live like that???
Here's a picture I took from my road when I wanted to show my son my new tires before I put them on. I see the local cops come by a few times/month! |
don't know what you can do since the gov't is the biggest mafia in the world. i used to deal with them with i lived in westwood and there have been many times where i felt so helpless that i wanted to kill one of them.
here are some things that i would consider: (this might be a little long) 1. go down to the parking enforcement bureau on pico (call first, not sure if you need to set up an appointment) and ask to speak with a supervisor and explain your situation and see what they can do about it. bring pics as quicksilver recommends. if it's the same parking wench giving the ticket, maybe consult a lawyer and see if there's any way to file a lawsuit for harrassment. i'm not a lawyer but i would think there would be some sort of recourse if it's the same person over and over again. (maybe one of our fellow X5 lawyers can shed some light on this) the wench has to get out of the car if she enters your VIN on the ticket, in which case she should be able to see your permit hanging. maybe take a pro-active approach and put a note on all the cars on the street and neighboring permit only streets and see if any of them have been wrongfully ticketed for not having a permit. i'm sure if there is enough complaints the city might do something. 2. if you want to get rid of permit parking all together, i think you have to get 70% of the residents in the area (6 street sides i think) to sign the petition. not sure how long that would take. 3. if the mafia, oops, i mean city, doesn't do anything, just put the sticker on your window...it may not look pretty, but it's the easiest way to stop getting those tickets. good luck M. |

i think Marko is looking for advice, not someone questioning why he prefers to live in the city as opposed to the boonies. some live in the city, some don't, but that's not the point of this thread. |

Could you scotch tape it to the inside of the windshield in front of the rear-view mirror? It would then be easier to see through the windshield because it's actually against the glass?

...forgot to mention.....
...It's 90 degrees + out here, I had my sunshade on....she couldn't see the pass from the front....sides are heavily tinted.......I could, Lambeau, but then I'd be acquiescing (sp?) to them... I don't want to see any sticker in or on my X...I'm not in the wrong...I'm doing as they ask on the permit...she's not utilizing her tools....give in?....not me....
