Land Rover blames BMW for low quality...

Absolutely amazing. Following their sh*tty results in reliability, Land Rover thinks it can get off by blaming BMW and their electronics. Amazing...

Its also pretty amazing that they fail to mention that the LR3 has the LOWEST RELIABILITY OF ANY CAR. And thats 100% Ford designed, no BMW involvement in the LR3 project... Yet, its of course BMW electronics that don't work with Jaguar engines which is causing the exceptionally low scores...

And what I had to say about it... (post #18)

"This is so LOW of Land Rover. Ford knew well what it was getting itself into when it bought LR back at the turn of the century. They even worked out a deal that BMW would supply the engines. Ford is stupid for not shelling out a little $$ to upgrade to the new BMW V8, and instead stay with the discontinued model until the last minute, and then think they can also save $$ by using a Jaguar engine.

The fact of the matter is that Ford tried to cut and run. If they really wanted to do a Jaguar engine, thats fine. But you don't mix and match BMW electronics and Jaguar electronics. It just doesn't work that way...

Blaming it on BMW is so low. They f*cked up, and they should take the blame for it !

Its amazing how they don't highlight in the press release that the LR3 has the lowest reliability of ANY CAR. ANY CAR ?! And Ford developed it from scratch. No BMW involvement in the LR3 project..."

Maybe but the LR3 is pretty advance what with using fibre optics cables etc etc.

The problems that LR had were either electrical of software issues not many mechanical.

I think though the people at LR have address resolved many of the problems on the 1st production cars had. Most late MY05 and MY06 cars are fine.

Surely you remember back to when the X5 first came out man oh man did they have their faults in fact TBH honest they still do window regulators hesitation when pulling off.

the difference though is that LR listen to the guys on the forums gathered the information together and brought out a enhancement to fix most problems.

Never once have I seen that kind of action from BMW.

What I am saying is swings and roundabouts.;)

May I suggest that RR blaming BMW for shitty reliability is like Lucas Electrics blaming Thomas Edison for their problems....pity, because Jaguar and Range Rover are such incredible brands.

It sucks how people can never accept fault... and starts pointing fingers.

Correct or not what's the piont in blaming BMW? Why not have Rovers engineers from Ford diagnose and sole the problem...that's the problem with our society today everybody wants to blame someone elso for their mistakes instead of accepting responsibility and moving on...there is suposedly a recall on an engine part installed in some 20 million Ford SUVs and trucks...I guess they'll blame BMW for that one too. Sheeesh

When you decide to take from others instead of providing your own technology i think you get what you deserve. Kinda dumb IMHO
