Official: BMW selling Rover
|
Title of article is somewhat misleading
BMW sold Land Rover to Ford six years ago. However, BMW retained ownership of the "Rover" brand name. Now BMW is selling it for $20 million to a Chinese auto company. This is essentially a non-story.
|
So a Chinese company making "Rovers" isn't a story? Interesting.
|
Would like to know the look on Ford execs face when we see a Land Rover LRQ3 at the next year's Shanghai auto show. They have to have a reservation in contract for markets to use the brand name.

Good, I'm not a big fan of car companies owning each other and thus making the same product with different badges, kills innovation IMO.
|
It seems 'odd' that BMW can do this or that Ford can't stop it. If I understand this correctly, two seperate companies can now make the same brand of car. Guess this is the reverse of one company making multiple brands of a car (e.g. Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura).
Are there any other cases of this? It just doesn't seem right. |
rand rover? sounds like scooby-doo.
btw, wagnerx5, is the random rap quote on your sig from outkast's "bombs over bagdad"? |
