Just WOW.. Ferrari in Paris

Not sure if people have seen this before, but it is simply amazing (and slightly dangerous). I think I now know where Nissan got the idea for the Z through the streets of Prague.

Quote:

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground until a DVD release a few years ago.

And a HUGE *POUT* :( It's not a Ferrari

Quote:

The director tells how he used a Mercedes 6.9, his own girlfriend at the end, radio's to signal if traiffic is coming on the 1 way streets/intersections etc. http://claude-lelouch.ifrance.com

"Comments from Lelouch prove that the vehicle that carried the camera was his 6.9L Mercedes-Benz, with automatic transmission and a top speed of 230 km/h. The gear changes up into 5th and high-revving engine sounds indicate speeds of well over 200 km/h, yet the picture often does not match, as visual speed does not change as much as the sound does. This is due to the fact that the sound track was dubbed with the sound from a Ferrari 275GTB to give the impression of much higher speeds, as confirmed by Lelouch."

This is an awesome video. Apparently the cops saw this and arrested him later supposedly. I think there was something written about it in GQ. Its like a real life Euro version of GTA or something.
