iTunes Sharing?

If I buy a song/video, and its added to my library, can I put it on my daughters iPod? I went o my daughter's Music Store and tried to purchase a video, and it gave me the, "You have already purchased this video..", but it wont let me put it in her library!...So do I have to buy it again, or not?! :dunno:

yes. just open up your itunes then plug in your daughters ipod then authorise that ipod for your itunes. you can have 5 ipod registered against your itune . mind though and don't down load all your tunes on to her ipod.

Don't know about the video but another way (which you should have done by now) Is back up all your iTunes on DVD. If she has her own computer just pop in the DVD and load the songs into her computer. She can then do her own thing with her iPod.

Yes, and no. Yes, you can have up to five iPods registered to your machine. This means, however, that your daughter will NOT be able to sync her iPod with HER machine. An iPod can only be tied to ONE computer, whereas one computer can have multiple iPods attached to it.

So, if your machine is the only one to which your girl's iPod is registerd, you're good to go. If she syncs with her computer, I would not recommend it. You'd have to de-authorize her computer, and she'd lose all the iTunes songs she downloaded from it.

I hope this makes sense.

Another interesting note. Over the past two weeks i've been deleating purchased tunes i decided i no longer needed from my Mac. Then i Re-arranged my playlists and decided to sync my iPod. I get a dialouge box with words to the effect asking "would you like to re-install deleated purchased songs back to the library from your iPod? Not sure if thats a new feature. I have deleated songs before but I have never see that feature before.

:lmao: Not at all! But that has nothing to do with your explanation....Im just clueless..

We have one computer that I use for all three iPods. I use Libra to switch libraries before I sync whichever iPod I have to...But this is the first time Ive come across this situation..I went into the Libra files and copied and pasted the song from my folder to hers. But when I bring up her library, the songs not there. So I said screw it, and tried to buy the song again, but iTunes DOES realize that I have purchased the song already, and has a pop-up to remind me - as if to say "Why are you buying this twice?"

It would be great if I could just sync her iPod to my library, and just "unclick" all the songs except for that one. But THEN, she would end up with one song on her iPod and all hers would be gone...I bought the song anyway, but her taste is changing and there are actually a few purchased songs in my library that she wants...But damn, I dont want to buy all these things twice!

good luck with all that, i had 2 ipods on the same itunes and it worked 40pct of the time max. apple suport suggested rebooting, which i had to do frequently. it also caused problems when u have more than one person logged into your computer at once. they make it so difficult to do simple tasks. i now use drag and drop from windows explorer from my sansa. this way u can share as much music as u want with anyone
