flat panel reliability improving
"Consumer Reports" latest product reliability survey shows no repair issues during the first year or two of use for LCD TVs from JVC, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba. Dell LCD sets have had higher than average repairs. In plasma, there have been no repair issues for Fujitsu, Hitachi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony or Toshiba. The repair rate for Philips and Vizio plasma sets has been higher than average. Long-term reliability for flat-panel sets is not known, and cannot be estimated, at this time.

I currently have four plasma's and they all work great. Three HD and one ED. My wife thinks I have a "Plasma" problem, all I have to do is to point to her shoes and jewelry and she gets very quiet. I am always looking for that next flat screen to purchase. I ran out of rooms where I could put a Plasma in this house so I am building a new one and will be purchasing a lot of new flat screens soon. I almost forgot, I have on in my office at work to. Just a 27" Lcd, it's ok but I think that one will need some upgrading soon as well. Lcd's are better as far as hours of use and very little screen burn but they are not as bright as a plasma and normally don't have as good a refresh rate as plasmas do. They make nice computer monitors and small tv's but up until recently have not been that great on larger sizes. Just my two cents.

So should my friend drop $2500 on a 46" Sharp Aquos LCD TV or not? It looks fantastic and seems much sharper than comparable sized plasmas.
The Vizios are attractively priced but do not produce a very clear picture. Side by side with the Aquos the Vizio looks downright blurry. |
Can't answer that but i agree about the way those Sharps look.

Back onto the SONY Bravia range, I`m looking at a KLV 46 V200 LCD, anyone bought a SONY LCD recently? The V range apparently is superior to the S range and a bit more expensive too (colors are brighter).
What do you think? |
