Maybe She Should Shut Up And Sing.
It's at least the third time the skit, which includes a George W. Bush impersonator, has angered Streisand's audience.

She and the Dixie Chicks can't seem to realize people paying for a "concert" are not paying to hear their political views - and just because we pay to hear them sing, doesn't mean we endorse their political view
|
Nobody is forcing them to go. By now, everyone knows if you go to one of her concerts, you are going to hear her talk about politics. If they don't like it, don't buy a ticket. I doubt she'll have to cancel any concert dates like the Dixie Chicks did.

Maybe they do know about it and maybe they don't.
Weather they know or not it does seem unkind to promote a political agenda as part of your show. It would be different if she only talked about politics. However it appears she has a political agenda. A type of venom in her conversation that disgust some people. I agree with others who have said she should shut up and sing during a concert. If she has a political message why not spend some of her money buy some time on TV so those who want to see it have the opportunity gorge themselves in her politically charged rhetoric. Not everyone at the concert is gonna agree with her view so why make others who dissagree suffer thru her diatribe of displeasure regarding GWB? Quote:

Entertainers using their microphone has been going for a long time--Joplin Pete Seeger, The Beatles, and what's his face (evreeey bodeee muuust geet stoooned)--Bob Dylan? But what seemed to morph this was when Billy Clinton dragged his sax and sunglasses out...not cool. I dunno, it seems that in the 70s (I guess) protests were about generational change, and now entertainers are being bitchy and nasty about their agenda. Which reminds me, isn't one of the Baldwin brothers supposed to have moved to Australia?
|
If I came into work and started spewing my political beliefs in the middle of a meeting (i.e. interrupting what i'm being paid to do), i'ld be fired on the spot.
The arrogance that these "entertainers" exhibit while wasting the time of people who paid to be entertained is unbelievable. I go to concerts to escape the b.s. politics of life, who the hell wants to be reminded of it while trying to relax and have fun? |
Well at least nobody is throwing their panties at her. Now that would be horriffic.
