I'm bored so here's a thread about my xenon thoughts.

I'm at school... I finished my theology final early so I just went down to the computer lab. I'm BORED....

Anyway, I've been thinking about doing and OEM xenon retrofit. Apparently it's a genuine plug-n-play retrofit. You have to change the housing, though. WTF is a housing? Also, it's slightly illegal because of the lack of auto-leveling. If I did the retrofit, would my dealer like.. turn me in to the cops? I think my SA was just telling me that the retrofit couldn't be done to cover himself... But would they really care if I did it? Where should I get the parts for the best price?

I know my delaer prob wouldn't say anything. They wouldjust turn their heads. I don't think you would get into any trouble. Besides, I really don't think cops know that if you have xenon lights they have to have auto level, atleast here in Florida they would not know that.

Yeah.. I know I'd never get in trouble with the cops. I live in NH... Do you THINK people here know what autoleveling means? :D

I just finished my retro-fit on my X5. What a difference! When I went to the dealer to get various parts for the conversion, they asked me if I was doing a retro-fit. I told them yes, and they were cool with it, they said I was the fifth or sixth this year doing it on a bimmer. I still need to re-adjust my lights, they are aimed too high. Good luck with the future retro-fit. They are plug-an-play.

I got them from a member here (although he doesn't post), but I contacted him at bimmerfest.com. His username is Zulu95, he made custom relays for my X5, so I wouldn't get error codes. He even wrote a DIY here on X5world. Here's the link http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=34.

Again, Good luck with everything!

So they're REALLY plug and play? If so, I'm goign to look into doing it. If I did get the error message is that something my dealer could take care of for me?

I'm not sure if the 3 series would get the same error light, but if you do, the dealer can most likely take care of it, or you can pull the fuse, but I suggest making the relays. :)

And Yep, plug and play, no splicing of wires, just put them in, and enjoy!

Nice!
Angel Eyes CCFL + Fog Lights 5500K looks like this:
A HID Bulb have some "burn-in-time" before the bulb got the correct color. 6500K would match even better! Higher K-value = more color but you loose light.
