Best anti-theft device?

I'm going to have an stolen car tracking device put in my new car when I get it.. Which is the best? Is the BMW Assist service enough, or should I go for something like LoJack?

Good question! - I have the BMW Assist on the '06, but I'm wondering about getting something for my '01 - look forward to any ideas and opinions

I don't see the point..BMWs are difficult to/not highly stolen vehicles. With newer vehicles, insurance companies are pretty good in compensation.

why you would want to even recover a car that is stolen is beyond me. It's damaged goods.. you don't want it back.

Joel, don't bother with a tracking device. The installers who would work on your brand new car would probably screw up the wiring and you would have all sorts of problems. Honestly, don't bother, the car comes with a very good OEM alarm. If the thief wants your car bad enough, they'll take it regardless of what you do.

I agree you dont want your stole car back in the first place, it's the insurace companies problem not yours.

as stated above real pros are going to get it no matter what (it is really easy to short out a lojack unit) and anyone novices are not going after BMWs because they are way to hard to steal compared to japanese imports which also net out a healthy parts profit because of the high demand for replacement parts...few people chop BMWs as the demand for repair parts on them is so much lower due to the narrower market segment covered

Are people still stealing the headlights?
