As an unrecoverd Beag's fan, I enjoyed their win...

Here, in SW FL, we had the "must stay with" Bears
and Tampa game on Fox HD Widescreen, though
that was a near great comeback by Tampa, even
with the 5+ mins of penalties in the OT. So, we
didn't get to the Beags & Midgets until it was 7-7.

Speaking of penalties, it's outta control: the pablum
fed, namby-pamby NFL rules comm. has dumbed down
the game too much, and the refs toss a flag at the
least judgemental interpretation, imo. No homer: they
call crap that would not have been given a glance
even a few years ago, on all the teams, all the time.

It's outta hand, imo. No sports xpert here, but it's
really taken any of the "normal, usual, historic" methods
out of the game via the excessively penal penalties.

This is not PeeWee or High School ball where the main
purpose of officiating is to teach/enforce rules and
prevent injuries to kids...this is the fookin NFL.

It will be bad ballet in a decade, at this rate.
Rant over. Glad the Beags won. I love 1080 Widescreen
HD TV!

Chased the ball with neighbors this am, watched ball
this afternoon, a morning drive in the Vette tomorrow,
and a lil' bridge on Monday afternoon...life is good.

Md, if you think the "football is being taken out of football", you should try being a hockey fan... there's more contact in golf these days...

Larry Brooks who covers the Rangers for the NY Post had a great line in his article today...

"The more fingerprints of Gary Bettman that are found on the game, the less there is to be found of Gordie Howe."

I changed my sig file on the Rangers message board to only include that 1 line.

Hockey isn't hockey anymore...

:iagree:

I have never seen so many penalties called against one team as the Eagles/Giants games. You either call pass interference or you don't, you can't decide that "oh, well 5 touches is a penalty but 4 isn't". BS all the way...let them play the damn game.

OT...G/R,
I learned to skate at 3ish and skated organized for 18+ yrs back
in the Motor. Got my azz handed to me once a month at Riverside
Arena in Windsor, trying to skate against the down southeast
CDA guys, lol! I love hockey...I should say I loved hockey.

I still follow it, but I don't begrudge the more international rules
and the lack of goonery these days. I do agree that even good
backchecking and any kind of boarding is gone, but the speed
and elegance of that game is still present. It is, unfortunately,
a niche game here in most of the lower 48.

But, I hear ya'!

That Eagles/Giants game was great! I kept thinking about Wagner and Guiness the whole time!!

It's good to see Garcia's last couple of years didn't follow him to Philly.

ETA: as a philadelphian i probably should have kept my mouth SHUT!
