Just put a deposit on a GL450

Thanks guys for the help.

The lease rates for the GL450 are just to good to pass up.

The GL450 with the offroad package (w/sport mode) was enough to saw me.

Good luck, I still feel the X5 is an awesome maching.

What are the lease rates? What did you pay, if you don't mind me asking. My neighbor has a GL and loves it. I was thinking about taking a look at one myself.

Yes please share your experience.

The Cleaner 12-21-2006 01:52 PM

I saw the first one on the road yesterday, I dont think they are selling very well.

MichX5 12-21-2006 01:53 PM

They're quite huge. Look a bit like a Landcruiser if you didn't see the badging.

blondboinsd 12-21-2006 02:21 PM

Yeah someone in our complex just got one, it almost fully fits their parking space lol

isn't the GL essentially the MB version of the Jeep Commander?

Ya, pretty much, though I am sure the Commander has a much simpler Nav system. ;)

Gl450 shares zero parts with Jeep. This has been covered in many articles. Although I'm sure it would make other marks fans feel good to think so.

Cost $74k $4.9k down, $980 a month 36 months

also Motortrend's SUV of the year.

didn't do any research on the GL, which is why I was asking, because they look similar in size to me, that's all. Not trying to make myself feel good.

In any case, I'm glad you're happy with the GL.

blondboinsd 12-21-2006 05:24 PM

That doesn't seem like a super steller deal to me, seems downright regular

Jsuit 12-21-2006 05:25 PM

Yeah, I didn't even look at GL's until after I was told it would be 60 to 70 days for an X5.

I hope they get the lease rate thing fixed, because the X5 is a great SAV.

Mind If I ask why your putting money down on a lease? Thats a big no/no if you ask me

x5GuyInLA 12-21-2006 05:41 PM

Also, don't know anything about leases, but I remember someone mentioning that you shouldn't have to put anything down on a lease, as that is essentially just money in the dealer's pocket :dunno:

blondboinsd 12-21-2006 05:41 PM

Yupperz no money down!

x5GuyInLA 12-21-2006 05:42 PM

read my mind BB

Correct. If a monthly lease price is say $499 and the dealer asks for say $3600 down on a 36 month lease, they basically just jumped your monthly to $599. It's absurd. They'll also try to build the $3600 back into the lease if you object to it, so make sure you agree on the price of the vehicle before you start talking about the financing. Until the final price is agreed, your answer to the salesman about how you want to finance it should always be "i don't know yet, let's just agree on the price".

But couldn't they fiddle with the residual value and money factor to get that $3,600 back into their pocket?

Agreed, we already agreed on price first thing.

not usually, those are usually set by the finance company.
