I just purchased a new navigation. I read another thread were somebody used a disc to stick the navigation to the dashboard. When placing my navigation, it came with a dashboard disc, however, when I went to stick it on, it did not hold. I cleaned the area prior to putting it on. It does not stick and I am not sure what I can do. The navigation also came with an arm that is supposed to suction onto the disc to hold the nav. Instead, I used the suction and put it onto my windshield, right under the rearview. I was not sure if this was okay to do because the directions did not show or list the navigation as being attached on to the windshield. I was wondering if there was another way to stick the navigation onto the dashboard or anywhere else because I do quite a bit of driving in California, and I heard that it is illegal to have any object sticking to the windshield. Any suggestions are greatly aprreciated. Thanks in advance.:)

There was a thread some time ago that listed some companies that make mounts for cellphones, GPS devices, etc. I would suggest looking for an alternate mount.

FWIW, I know that in CA you aren't supposed to use a suction cup mount on your windshield but (a) would it really be enforced and (b) if you do it smartly it shouldn't be a safety hazard. To elaborate, I have seen people mounting Magellans and Streetpilots smack dab in the middle of the windshield and thus obstructing the driver's view considerably. Part of the problem is the larger size of those devices. I use a Garmin Nuvi that is quite small and I mount it to the left of the rear view mirror and that keeps it from obstructing my view of traffic and pedestrians. :thumbup:

One of the issues with mounting a GPS device is making sure the antenna can see the sky so being in your windshield is best but perhaps you can purchase an external antenna and you can then mount your GPS below the window lines on your center console, cupholders, or on the face of the dashboard.

Thanks I saw that thread a while back, but I forgot about it. The new nav that I purchased it a little bit wider than your nuvi. I used the arm to stick it to the windshield directly under the rearview. This looked really nice, however it was in the way sometimes.

Here's another option:

attach it under your vents...it helps cool the unit too

That's a Garmin StreetPilot 7200. It uses the exact same interface as a Nuvi (that's what I assume you bought?:confused:)

When I use the radio, I just use the presets to change stations.
