Blizzard
1 Attachment(s)
Thought I would share this pic as we have another storm on the way..
The x5 made it out of that snow and up to Breckenridge after the blizzard last Wed - Thru. |
It 50 degrees here in NYC, but I remember about three years ago when we got storm after storm.
Since I have purchased my X5 I have never had a change to drive it in snow. Do you have winter tires? |
your X5 made it with that much snow? you have to have snow tires
|
No snow tires.. Had to shovel the drive to get out. Main roads wern't bad but getting there I had to "plow" a little snow with the x.
|
That pic is awesome. I just had the 18's put on with a new set of Scorpion Ice & Snows...but we have had no snow yet  I am definitely chompin at the bit to test out the new rubber.
|
Getting around in the snow is no problem. The only "real" problem with that much snow is ground clearance. More snow today and tomorrow. Perfect for snowboarding!!
|
Yeowzer.. That is why I got out during the blizzard last week ;) Had a place in Breck for the weekend.

Is that Ice Water in that glass on the left?

Looks like there will NEVER be snow EVER on the East Coast. Knowing my luck: the first year we had the X, there was no real snow. Now that we bought winter tires and mounted them, there will also be no snow. And my parents will think I wasted $600 of their money on a set of 4 winter tires.
|
Great Pic not had any snow here in Scotland yet. Not had any decent stuff for about 5 years.
must have been some going digging your drive out. |
They are expecting another snow storm today and tomorrow here in Denver. My X doest great in this weather. I do have some snows on and I feel like I am in total control.

M, most parents feel their kids waste money, espc. when it's the'Rents money. Pretty normal feeling, on their part, imo. :) |

We all know the tail-happy antics of our X3. They just don't want to do anything about it. |
God, please bring a few blizzards to NY so we all can enjoy it too with our snow tires :)

We drove our old non-XDrive, up and down our very, very steep mtn road, for four winters; the first winter on the style 69 18" wheels with the oem summer Michies... that was a handful, but we never didn't make it. This is a seriousazz 4 mile climb with deep snow, ice, etc. With the style 57 17s and Mich Alpins it was cake, on days that none of our fellow mtn neighbors left the house. So, bravado over with, but I don't understand a "tail-happy" XDrive X3 in MaryLand? BR,mD PS: Parents try, on occasion, to simply ignore their children regardless of the Kidz age(s). |

Oddly enough all of this happens in normal driving and part throttle. When I really try to kick the tail out for fun and hit the throttle decently hard, xDrive manages to do its thing with the differential braking and everything's semi-okay. Maybe I should just drive harder.............. |
Cool picture. I fly into Denver on Sunday. I hope DIA is open!!

Maybe an X3/XDrive quirk or, just an anomaly? NEway, good luck and keep it between the fences. And, Good Luck to the Denver Gang: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...ry=Denver%2CCO BR,mD |
Can I just say I have not found the X5 to be that great in the snow and we get nothing like what is in the pictures above.
Mind you this is having the normal tyres on  the big 4x4 motors with the auto trans ain't great on snow / ice covered roads. how embarrassing is it when you are slowing down to make your turn in to the drive put your foot on the brakes and you just keep on sliding.  |

Damn global warming!! No snow in NJ and it is almost Jan. !!
|
no snow in NY yet either, except for the very few flakes I saw two days ago ...
Gives me an excuse to keep the 132's on ... although I would like to see some of the white stuff this year .... *waiting for Laura to show up with the huge shut up smiley* |
