I can view it easily, but where is the execution?

Wagner 12-30-2006 10:46 AM

So far the only thing circulating is Saddam getting the "neck tie" and then the video cuts out. Apparently he died very fast and they let him hang for 10 minutes till confirming the death. I was watching a doctor discuss hanging and he said it take 3 minutes to cut all oxygen from the brain, resulting in brain death..however...the heart can continue to beat for 10 minutes after hanging. Thus the delay.

What are you getting at, xxx?

blondboinsd 12-30-2006 12:57 PM

ROFL I was just at a party discussing this, I still think Bush was/is more of a threat

Actually, if done properly and "humanely" (if that is possible), a quick jerk when they dropped the ground from under him would have likely produced a bilateral (double-sided) fracture of the odontoid process of the C2 vertebra, which would then extend back into his upper spinal cord producing instant death. This type of fracture is (interestingly enough) known as a hangman's fracture. It would be like turning off a light switch. Best scenario for the executionee.

Exactly right. Back in the "old days", there existed tables that the hangman would consult, referencing the height and weight of the executionee, telling the hangman how long the rope should be to create the proper force for a quick neck snap.

laborlitigator 12-30-2006 03:18 PM

I'd pay to see Bush up there. . .

Well I'll go with the two doctors I hear review the topic and how it is done in Iraq. Though that may be the proper way to do it.

Don't think it was necessary to post the pics, probably best if you remove them. Links would have been just fine.

PeteG&StatDoc are right on, from all the visceral reading I've done...
If you watch the vid, (even the NewYawkTimes has it, so I'm not
sure it's Ogrish.com material  ), the setup was simply a slide noose of
very thick rope with a way big/many coiled "knot" that slid done
over the slip noose, tight against SH's neck, jaw and side of head...
it did the job, but it was not a well done hangman's noose, imo.

I suspect the "reasonable" human condition is such that for many
people it seems gruesome, overdone, capital punished, etc.

Sure he was a puppet and propped up by the US for years; typical
int'l "politics" by the geniuses in DC. He was also a barbaric, stoical
butcher whom would have your mother cut up and fed to the goats
if you looked at him incorrectly. F'em...there are thousands and thousands
like his ilk, of all skin colors, waiting in line for the same type "position" and
spoils that he had. He was a murdering thug in fancy suits, surrounded by
killer sychophants and boot lickers willing to do any bad deed he requested.
Hope they let him rot in the streets of Baghdad.

Rant over...
BR,mD

What if the neck doesn't brake, can you give us an idea of what happens then?

If I was him I'd like to be shot. Somehow its just more manly but then maybe that's why it was done this way. For some reason facing a firing squad in my opinion is not as degrading as being hung.

If his neck doesn't break, then they would likely let him hang and suffocate. That would be more cruel, IMO.

I was not suggesting ways to kill him. I was simply providing some insight on how hanging executions work (or are supposed to work).

Not the first time I have heard this sort of thing. This sort of policy is coming from the oval office. This group in the Bush Administration simply does not like any sort of international law whether it be the International Criminal Court, Geneva Conventions, or even the United Nations as a whole.

This same group all held positions in the Reagan Administration, and they supported Saddam all the while he was committing these attrocities against the people of Iraq, and even went so far as to attempt to cover up his attrocities so that American businesses could continue to do business with Iraq and so that there would be no international sanctions. So now when it suits their agenda, they will lay the blame at his door, again at the expense of the Iraqi people.

Nothing they do has any agenda outside of economics. Attrocities, Terrorism, Freedom, Democracy and Religion are all tools they use to run a policy driven 100% by economics. They use any combination of these issues only when it suits their agenda.
